Markets for this are mostly NOT america… for time being.. unfortunately.. for me my only sales offers are through distributors with foreign buyers for 4K or 5K content.
Regardless of the market however, shooting in 4K is the best thing you can do in digital if the choices are HD or 4K for visual quality. I’ve been shooting a lot with BMPC 4K in prores HQ and raw, the down sizing at final render produces phenomenal HD video. And if you manage to get a buyer for 4K version, all the better.
Anyway, to the original question.. now a year later.. we’re not there yet for stock footage … even though the stock footage market has been heavily saturated with 4K already… very few households have devices that display 4K short of the new mobile devices. When 4K or 5K is the new HD and in every home and the providers push up to a new high resolution standard.. then we’ll see more sales. It sucks there wasn’t more of a balance with this curve ball… the products to produce 4K were supplied well before the consumer products to display were adopted by consumers globally. Which is NOT good for reaching our asking prices for 4K content (in America), our market is seriously jacked up right now (in America)... or am I mistaken? Japan is doing really well in that department from what I’ve heard. 4K is broadcasted over the air to every household.
Kind Regards, David
How about an Envato Meetup Las Vegas? This is all I found for USA Envato Meetups: http://videohive.net/forums/thread/local-envato-meetup-new-york/50384
Recently dA had a meetup in Las Vegas, NV which is (imo) the best entertainment and tradeshow/meetup capitol in the world….
What are the chances that Envato is going to have a Meetup in Las Vegas or a booth in one of the tradeshows/conventions here at some point??
And as an Envato community member, if Envato did get a booth or do a panel at a convention in Las Vegas would you attend?????
Split licensing, interesting. Glad this clears things up! According to that post, so long as a copy of the GPL license is included we are good!
After posting I realized one point I didn’t make clear enough, I’d like to bundle the GPLv3 CMS with my theme and plugin for simple deployment and want to know if that is possible so long as a give links to the open source material included in the description?
Hi, Can I sell theme packages on ThemeForest that include GPLv3 licensed material?
To be specific I am developing a responsive theme with a powerful plugin for a Micro Content Management System called GetSimple which is licensed under GPLv3 but the original developer has abandoned the project. Can I include it in a html theme package for purchase on ThemeForest and can I give my theme and plugin a Creative Commons or similar attribution required license?
The application of some of these open-source licenses can be very confusing at first glance. I’ll appreciate any and all help to accurately understand designer rights in this instance and what’s allowed on ThemeForest concerning this. Thank you.
I had bought activeden item# 89254 hoping I could get it play continuously across all page loads.. nope lol. So I’m also interested in a music player like the one SportTips gave but with more design flare.
I have not found any forum rules specifically on properly posting a request here yet, so I hope this is fine.
MyBB is a free open source forum software platform that has a wide user base. I would very much like to see MyBB plugins added to the Envato CodeCanyon Marketplace. This would be mutually beneficial to Envato, plugin developers, and MyBB community. Right now many MyBB developers sell their plugins on their own sites and I have not found a selling agent or location which hosts all of them for purchase. This is an opportunity for Envato with potential high yield as there is currently no other competition in servicing this particular market segment as a selling agent (i believe that’s what Envato classifies as).
This being shared… there’s some plugin ideas for MyBB that I would very much like to be developed.
In my opinion.. and with my current understanding of this situation which may not be correct.. the particulars of this situation should be challenged in the courts. If the situation is: License allows you to use the product to generate content which will be used to generate the buyer income. Issue: Should a legal buyer of product be denied by product developer from using original content produced from such product in a 3rd party software project which would be sold by buyer? Point of view (which may have fallacies): In this situation since no source code from the developers product is included in the content to be sold, how is the developers product rights being violated and further more do they have the legal right to deny a buyer of their product to sell any form and/or portion of original content they create with it? In my opinion I think not.
So do I understand this correctly or is there something details I’ve missed or wrongly interpreted?
You mean hashed or encrypted? If hashed anyone with access to database can unhash and with many encryptions simply test for collisions and recover passwords. So if it’s encrypted I hope it’s something that’s difficult to decrypt. And if I understand correctly.. all Envato user passwords were vulnerable after security compromise if users did not reset their Envato marketplace passwords since then? Was it 23days ago?
EDIT : To clarify this is just in response to OP.
