+1 from us (even though we are Elite and we already manage our own dedicated support team, we are staying with all authors here).

“Elites” are more than welcome here. I’ve sent PMs to authors of TOP 10 selling themes and couple of others to “+1” this thread to make sure that our voice is heard. I know this is messaging system abuse, but I hope they will forgive me :)

Hi there…as part of making support expectations far clearer to buyers on Themeforest and Codecanyon, we don’t think its a good idea to allow opting out.

You don’t think, but we do, we have 70%, you have 30%. You want business, do business, don’t play this stupid game. And I don’t give a damn about the support expectations you might think fit, it’s not your items, it’s not your support, expectations are set BY ME and not BY YOU.

I’m wondering if the guys at Envato are trying from all their power to ruin this marketplace. They’re doing a great job so far.

I don’t care what Envato will say, I will still do support on my OWN TERMS. They can soft-reject and remove my items so I can search something else, along with tens of other elite authors. ;) If that’s what they want.

I’d like to outspeak regarding the mandatory support. And especially highlight this reply of @stewboon http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/important-changes-to-item-support/140218?page=29#1104581

With such attitude Envato will start loosing authors quickly. I thought it will affect mainly new authors and authors who’s not as well established as we, “elites” (since we can afford dedicated support teams). But voices like this from well established authors are rising as well: http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/important-changes-to-item-support/140218?page=33#1104702

IMO the idea of mandatory support with fixed timeframes and “support packages” will become the beginning of the end of our beloved Envato Marketplace :(

Sure, it’s only my oppinion and I can be blind to brilliant ides of Envato higher management behind this change… but I’ve been around for couple of years and made it to 8th top selling authors on ThemeForest therefore I have certain idea of how things works.

(I still hope that this Collis’ initial post is “lets scare them and then they will accept our “softer” terms” strategy.)

Anyway, I hope that my opinion was helpful and it will made its way to whoever that is who’s making big decisions.

Thanks to whoever it was for removing my message saying that because of mandatory support starting from December first, authors will not have normal Christmas and New Year holidays.

Personally I will not make my support team working on holidays. So will have to do it myself.

*You can remove the post as many times as you like but I will post it again anyway.

I don’t want to be a combo breaker but I think this will not work unless it’s made sticky; and even then authors who only open those threads for self promotion will probably continue opening those threads. But I gladly participate and since I’m not an author I

Don’t you think that it will make some authors “opt out” from Envato Marketplace. Such statements were posted in this thread already. IMO you’re playing against new authors (big authors have dedicated support teams anyway) and against the Marketplace itself. On the other hand this may be positive since can stop the clone flood in new items..

*This is only my opinion: a perspective of how sees this situation one of top 10 selling author on ThemeForest.

We had 1 customer (now banned) who submitted over 80 tickets with numerous different questions in couple of month. And after being banned for severe support abuse was impudent enough to request a refund.

Now my question is how do we, authors, supposed to handle such cases. You do realize that the same day support will be mandatory, people will start to abuse it? Especially considering the fact that Envato have no resources to examine all possible disputes (because there are to many items on ThemeForest).

How Envato can make a support mandatory for authors when at the same time it takes weeks for Envato Support team to answer?

+1 :) though I’m a customer, abuses should be reported and users refunded
