Wow “bouth between 1000 and 4999” I guess all the authors of TF and CC should thank you
“Not sure if I’m included…..” but thank you too as an author
Keep on buying
Well I can give some help here considering that we receive this question almost everyday in our email.
I am a big fan of responsive tehnique and also of mobile themes developing.
So as a conclusion to what users prefer I can tell you that they are separated almost 50% and 50%.
1. Users that want a full responsive theme. They want to make all the content of the desktop version available also for mobiles and the mobile theme to looks the same only resized.
2. Users that want a separate mobile version so they can make it simplier will less content and graphics loads.
I allways ask users to show me their desktop website first to know what to recomand them. For the ones that have a big content desktop website I recomand a light separate mobile theme, and for those with a simple, clean desktop website to build a simple resposive code for it.
Hope this helps.
“is there a way to edit the themeforest templates in the normal (design) view?”
The best way is to ask the author before you bought the template. The template author will tell you exactly if his template is looking good in dreamweaver design mode.
So my sugestion is to ask the author before you buy the item.
Is “compozer” the Mozilla Html Editor ?
I ussually work in dreamweaver code more. But any editor will do the job.
You are trying to build mobile mockups templates for your friends? Or normal desktop templates?
Both ways I recomand to use a code editor. If you allready start creating mockups for friends and you like it, I guess it is time to learn html/css better and work in code, could became a job for you to tranform templates into websites.
Yes themeforest templates are a bit more professionally made. You can try for the start some clean/simple templates you will find here on the market place and work on them.
Normally a html/css template do not need an installation. All you have to do is to copy the files to your server.
Templates are not installed like wordpress themes.
When you said “open index.html file with dreamweaver” is about editing the content of it.
I guess the template creator did not build that template in design view mode, and did not check it to see if it works like this. The templates are done in code mode, it is the best way to build a clean code and organized one. And also it’s the best way to be edited. And editing html/css template requires some basic html/css knowledge.
Hope this helps.
I agree with dtbaker, unique designs will not sale too much because this is the actual trend for now. But the trend can be changed. I do consider that niche templates and themes will be a must for the future, otherwise it will end up to a market saturation.
This why I really like what envato do with rewards like “Envato’s Most Wanted – $10,000 Reward for the First 50 Joomla Templates & Plugins”. And I would apreciate if one day a reward like this will be available for niche themes. This will helps users win more money from unique and niche themes.
Working more than 12-15 hours a days will make you after 5-10 years a zombie
I have worked in the last 5 years around 12 hours a day and my social life and health was going down, really down.
Now I work only 6-8 hour a days, with some pause time between.
From my experience, combining work with free time and social life can make you more productive and creative. That 6-8 hours can be productive as 12 hours if you know how to manage them. Also try not to work at night. A good sleep over the night will bring you a productive day after
Just replied to your comment on the item details page. Read there for the answers to your both questions.
We have created a new html template concept to submit, and unfortunately it was rejected.
It was maybe a too strange concept, a responsive desktop and mobile theme with a diferent navigation style with icons and circles, instead of a normal link navigation…
We allready have a plan on how to improve the design layout structure.
But we do also need some other designers point of view.
So anyone have some ideeas on how we can do this look better?
Also some questions in helpting us understand some points :
1. Do you think the navigation should use normal links structure, it is a must on themeforest?
2. Do you think the circle theme design is a little too much, we should also use square photos format? (the images in source are square, the circles are made with CSS3 over the images.)
3. Do you think the content of home page should be a little more spaced, for the 3 blocks under the navigation? It looks a little too cramped maybe.
Also we know we need to create a little more design details for some sections, but any other idea someone can suggest is welcome.
Best Regards .
Thank for the advices EugeneO
How much do you charge for customizations? And do not tell me hourly rate because it does not take an hour to make the changes. And how do you keep track of them all?
I have never charged for customizations. But I have never made customizations that last more than 10-30 min to do.
Never keeped track of them all, this was a problem.
Well after all the thinking and discussions with the partners, we decided to build a suport forum, and complete how many FAQ we can for each item based to all email answers that we have given so far.
Sounds like a lot of work I guess it will last 1-2 month to realize all that.
And we allready got an email from one person interested in offering help to support our work .
