I noticed on a popular as2 file, some folks were asking about an as3 version. I have an as3 Fullscreen Background class that might be of interest. There is a video tutorial on the page as well for those interested in how it works or folks who need a little help implementing it.

I just finished making a short video tutorial on how to implement my FullScreen Background Pro Component. This was my first screencast ever, so some tips and suggestions on how to improve would be greatly appreciated.

I have registered the ##flashden channel on irc.freenode.net
I see this as being a place for authors to provide support for their files, people to get help on general flash stuff, and a flash den hangout of sorts.
If anyone needs help on getting irc set up. let me know.

wow hink that fossil site is super sick. Great Job.. May I ask how long that project took. just curiouse cause it makes as3.0 look tasty
Thanks for the kind words. It took about a month working with a designer getting the assets designed and such and programming it out.

I wouldn’t say that big. The best suggestion I think, would be force yourself to learn it. AS2 is deprecated and learning AS3 isn’t as hard as you think.
Find a project you want to do, and force yourself to do it in AS3 .
I have two files on here. My FullScreen Background Pro is fairly inexpensive and it uses AS3 conventions ( documents class, events, classes, etc ) if you want to peek at that. I would be more than willing to help explain some stuff if you don’t understand.
I would definitely suggest you take a look at the slideshow link i posted though.
Once you understand basic class structuring, how classes interact with each other, and the event model, you’ll be set.
My first ever as3 project ever was www.layeritonme.com Obviously the code isn’t the prettiest but it was an awesome stepping stone to learning.
