I prefer the app store…

I did too, until they stopped accepting all my cards…

I just looked at the new Coda screenshots and I think I will still stick with Espresso app which I switched to from Coda about a year ago :) Those of you thinking about Coda, try Espresso too – they are similar yet different, but you will have the choice between two products.

Will check it out right now. Must say I am a little disappointed with coda 2 atm :/

Half the price for today, will be 75$ in the future for version 1 customers, but then only for customers who are willing to buy it directly at panic.com

I prefer the app store… no licence key crap and icloud sync :)

I am amazed by the number of themes uploaded and approved everyday on TF. Things sure changes in 2-3 years :)

I also see a lot of them with really low sales so I am wondering, maybe it would be good to have higher standards now that we have a LOT of themes on the market?

What do you guys think?

Funny, had the same thought yesterday.

Although I think my latest theme might simply not be appealing to customers, it was really a shock when it vanished from the homepage after just 2 days. Thats a very very small exposure time and barely enough to end up at the popular items section. Looking at the list of previous approved items I see quite a few gems that with a little more time on the front would have easily made the popular items section but now probably wont.

So for now, a quality requirement increase might fix that problem but in the long run I am not sure if the current homepage concept will work out well.

Its a little like back in the days when codecanyon didn’t exist, only that nowadays tons of html themes flood the marketplace…

Hey!

it seems the ultimate-tinymce plugin adds an additional stylesheet that messes up the theme stylesheet on your frontend. I would recommend to remove the plugins/ultimate-tinymce/css/column-style.css file or remove the content from that file.

Get it together. Fail after fail.

second that. :(

Whatever you will implement cant be as good and flexible as something we can modify for ourselves for our own needs. If you want a smoother user experience release a default iframe with all the options mentioned before, but allow users to modify it at will. I wouldnt care changing the look of my custom iframe but I want to be able to modify the functionality at any time.

Hey zstopa!

The good news is that almost every theme will work fine with an ecommerce plugin.

The bad news is that there is a pretty good chance that it will look very crappy.

When I built Flashlight I didnt think about adding woocommerce to the theme, that happend in an update and it took me 2 days to visually integrate it into the the theme. And I am not talking about CSS only changes here, quite a few php modifications to the plugin output were necessary as well. And it was “only” 2 days because I built 2 different woocommerce themes before, so I knew very well how the plugin works :)

If you want to add ecommerce functionallity to a theme that was not built with the intention of adding a commerce plugin from the start, be prepared to get your hands dirty :)

3 options come to mind:

  • Use a hidden input field
  • Create a script tag and store your variable as javascript var
  • use the html 5 data attribute

If you need to send the data the hiden input is the way to go. If its a lot of data to read I would recommend the script tag. If you only need to store a setting or two I prefer the html5 data attribute for its convenient use with jquery. Any element is allowed to have any number of data attributes in this format: data-key=”value”. You could easily read and set that value with jquerys data method:

//get
var get = $(element).data('key');

//set
$(element).data('key', 'newValue')
