How does octane render works out for you? I heard some things about it, but never head the chance to work with it…
I build the scene in Cinema 4D, and export to Octane. In Octane you build the materials & lighting…it’s the most amazing render program out there (with Arnold at the top as well), not expensive, and render amazing results in a very high speed.

And it works well? When I looked at their site a while ago I saw it say the C4D version was “coming soon” so I just assumed this could not be used for any C4D work. Didn’t realize you could still utilize the standalone render app.

If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly is the difference between using this (or any other) rendering tool rather than just using the one built into C4D or any other 3D program? I’m a bit dense when it comes to detailed 3D knowledge, so I’ve always been curious to know why someone would pay extra to use a different rendering tool.

Hey guys, just wanted to hop in here to restate that prerendering from E3D is not permitted in any form. Rendered elements cannot be uploaded as motion graphics animations, nor can rendered E3D elements be provided in projects. The only way to sell anything involving E3D on VH would be to upload the actual E3D project file.

If others are selling E3D renders, it’s possible that they are not aware of this limitation, and it slipped past review. In this case, files should be reported so that we can remove anything that’s being sold when it shouldn’t.

We adjusted the pricing a bit since the ranges were originally listed. Initially the higher price points took into account extra value that was brought in with the addition of models and textures (that have to be included). But quickly realized that there are still many times when a project will come in that contains little more than extruded text. And since achieving extruded text using E3D is easier than the older methods, it doesn’t really make sense to charge a lot more for it.

The higher pricing is still available and you should see a few projects that have higher pricing. It’s just a matter of projects needing to include enough to justify the higher price point.

I’ve been playing it for about a week and even with all of the issues that have been reported, I’m pretty much hooked. There’s a lot missing if you’ve played any of the older SimCity games, but there’s also a lot of great new things as well.

They just released a patch last night to help deal with a persistent bug having to do with traffic congestion and it seems to have helped some. But yeah, I’m loving it so far.

Hey guys, sorry for the ever growing delays. We’re back up to full capacity now that Filips is back from vacation. But even with him back, things might seem slow. You guys are basically slamming us right now :). Each day I wake up to look at the queue’s expecting to see things going down, but it seems like we’re consistently getting more submissions than we’re able to get through each day. And this recent influx from new/existing authors has things a bit bogged down at the moment.

So a huge thank you for your patience! But in the meantime I’m going to focus on putting in a bunch of extra time to try and get the wait times down to the normal 72 hours again.

Just to clarify, copying or mashing together existing projects to make something new, is not permitted. If you notice a file that might be infringing on one or many other files, please visit our support page and report the file as that will allow us to investigate the matter.

Hey guys, just a quick note, we do not actually permit authors to price their own files by just writing and requesting a certain price. We do allow authors to request price changes and we then review the item again and consider the requested price. But its still possible that your price request may be denied and your item’s price will remain the same.

While we cannot ever guarantee exact pricing consistencies between reviewers because the process includes subjective steps, we all try to get as close as possible. We do have a number of factors that help determine price. And please keep in mind that one of our goals is to keep all files on a level playing field while also trying to maximize each item’s selling potential.

Price point plays such a huge factor in sales that it could never be so cut and dry. The pricing difference of $15 to $20 does bring in more revenue, but it could also make a very big difference in sales. I’ve personally seen files sell very well at $15, only to have their sales come to a dead stop once the price was increased to $20. Price point is very important and it can make or break your items in some cases. So while you might think the extra $5 is worth it, per sale. That extra $5 may reduce your overall volume, which would net you less money down the line.
