In 1 year since I been checking out AJ homepage, I never saw a hip hop track featured. But I believe that if you make a great track, and starts selling well, you can make it to the homepage!

After 3 years of favoring non-exclusivity (and saying so quite strongly on the forums), I bit the bullet and created this account. I do still get more outside AJ than I do from AJ, but in my case time is limited (day job, family, etc.), and I tend to want to create music during that time. In consequence, I have more songs than I can upload everywhere and I’m woefully out of date on all but the best selling sites. So I figured having some of them go to an upload once spot would be a good idea, and so far it’s been working out pretty nicely.
I believe that you can make more revenue going non-exclusive, and also you’re not putting all your eggs in one basket (any number of things out of your control could affect sales). But to maximize it you have to put in the time and energy to keep up to date everywhere, constantly be looking for other places to sell (and be willing to waste time on sites that don’t produce results, of which there are many), and also split any marketing among several sites.
One more thing to consider – I agree with DynamiteAudio, but I would use the maximum 70% commission rate when comparing against sales from other sites, even if it seems out of reach. If I had known that I would reach that 70% commission rate on my other account within a few years, I would have definitely been exclusive from the get go (rates were a lot different back in 2009, so it didn’t make sense at the time :)).BTW I am still very active on my non exclusive account – not sunsetting it by any means. I’m just expanding my horizons with the exclusive account
It gives me the munchies!
I only ask them to write their opinion and then they have the right to vote. I think not ask for much.
Of course not, that is fair enough. But the system is already made and it doesn´t look like they are going to change it. There should be a solution within the actual system. Would be nice to hear the voice of AJ on this subject.
Hi Allegro, it´s sad to hear that, all over the forum there are stories about this happening. I will give you my humble opinion, I don´t know so much about AJ buyers/clients. I believe they look trough the comments and listen to the music. And if everything goes right, perhaps then they look to the stars.
I believe this are collaboration between AJ composers, but FatihPesmen just want to post a collab with a NON AJ composer, so, as PurpleFog said, as long as the lyrics aren´t registered in other site or label you can submit your track without issues.
You can always submit a ticket to support if you cant find the answer in the Forums.
Have a nice trip in AJ!
