It’s about time we gave this thread another few days as a sticky. We are starting to we a few duplicate topics pop up, which we really don’t need because of how popular this one has been! :D

Let’s keep it going strong!

Being nominated is great, but being included is even better. I won’t beat around the bush. It’s a nice chunk of change in the end. Sales are not reflected in your earnings or profile stats, but let’s just say you can earn enough to go get your studio styled out if your bundle does well. Besides the custom gigs that have come my way through AJ, and the steady clients who now deal directly, the bundles have been the best payout here by far!

I like the idea, Matt. But I feel like Miksmusic has a point. We pretty much know that if we upload interface sounds that people will be using them for a small range of project types. If we upload an audio logo, likewise. If we upload a song, it could be used in a handful of applications although broader than the previous examples. And we know if someone purchased a personal or extended license at the moment of purchase.

That said, I still like the idea and would love to see something like this fleshed out and implemented to provide us with some more analytics. What we are currently privy to is not enough to intelligently adjust marketing strategies or other engagement efforts. I feel this is the biggest thing holding authors back from making a much larger impact on traffic numbers and generating both new and repeat customer sales. Perhaps if customers volunteered the info that is currently protected (how they found out about us, are the new to the Envato network, etc) it would be more likely to be shared with us. It wouldn’t take much more than this to change the entire approach to this puzzle for all of us.

*And before people chime in about it, no there should not be info given about the identity of the customers who purchase our files unless they choose to contact us directly.

It looks like AudioJungle has again moved into the #1 Google position for the search term ‘Royalty Free Audio’. But we slipped to page 4 of search results for the search term ‘Royalty Free Music’. AJ ranks at the top of page 2 with the search term ‘Royalty Free Sounds’.

I could go on with examples, but I am most interested in hearing thoughts as to how we have been placed under wiki pages, bloggers and articles that are years old. What’s changed? I have a good working knowledge of how SEO and ranking work, as I do this everyday in my work and do quite well, but how has AJ moved down below these other results? Using common keywords and phrases in file descriptions is not the solution with a site this big, and it shouldn’t be the responsibility of authors to keep ranking for this network at its highest. Thoughts?

This should be an interesting thread. ;)

For those of you who like to know more about your fellow Envato authors, the interviews that Adrian Try conducts are pretty awesome. A lot of very cool people are a part of this community! I was interviewed a couple of years ago, and was pleased to hear Adrian ask me if I’d do it again, when I caught up with him at the Envato meetup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia earlier this year. I was traveling at the time, and wasn’t able to actually take part until after returning to the States and getting the studio back online. So today I am happy to say that I am again featured on the Envato Notes blog in an author interview. If you’d like to see some pictures from the trip, pictures of my toys or just want to know a little more about who I am and what OhmLab is all about, check it out here http://notes.envato.com/interviews/author-interview-ohmlab-2/#more-16124 And don’t forget to leave a comment! ;)

It’s a bit cliquish here, I think, in more ways than one. But one such element of it is that I notice people being featured on the “weekly features” repeatedly while others are never featured. Seems kind of lopsided to me.
