In fact looking at themewaves logo, that if it was angled so the three lines pointed vertically from the bottom would be perfect (not inciting plagiarism at all here).
You have the suggestion of a globe with the circle, the suggestion of a hand smacking it and the three prongs make a W (web smacker).
Again, not inciting plagiarism but there are clever ways of portraying your brand without stating the obvious.
Oh and btw @themewaves, I really like your logo!
The facebook logo includes neither a face nor a book, Flickr doesn’t use a camera and most web companies have now moved away from using cliche images such as globes and cursors etc.
The most important thing is that it is easy to read and nice to look at. Any emphasis on purpose should be clever and/or subtle. I was a big fan of the flickr circle that used to be used for iphone apps as it suggested a camera without being too obvious. Twitter is a very simple bird icon that would be instantly recognisable because of it’s simplicity.
As my lecturer used to say to me…
“Oh good, you’re getting all the bad ideas out early, good idea!”
I hated that guy, but I quickly began to appreciate what he had to teach.
I’m getting a little edgy, I go on holiday for three weeks very soon and I need to make sure this is all approved and any reasons for rejection are sorted.
Is this just down to a staff shortage or a huuuuuuge influx in files?
I think they are asking you to make your 1 ae file a bit more flexible to the end user. Try to create your template so that it works for a text range of 2 – 12 letters and also an image. I for one have an image as a logo and no text.
You want this to sell to as many people as possible and the more flexible you make it, the more customers you will attract.
It’s been a while since I uploaded anything to Videohive but my current item has been sat in the queue for 6 days now.
Is this now standard? I’m not necessarily complaining, it would just be good to know how long to expect to wait. That might be a nice feature to add once you upload, similar to when you are on hold.
“We expect your call to be answered in 30 minutes” becomes “current approval waiting time is 4 – 5 days”.
Currently enjoying our Friday night printing table place cards and sending stupid amounts of money to photographers and caterers but all will be worth it come the big day.
Cheers for all the ‘congrats’ and stuffs. Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed for some sunshine.
That’s right, sorry ladies. I’m a gettin hitched!
Most of it will be paid for by Videohive earnings which is pretty freakin awesome and why I thought it was worth posting here.
Now I’m not saying that many sales will get you a life partner as a reward (although… idea for you admin guys there, would be a pretty cool bonus!) but it does go to show what the site does in terms of helping people buy and pay for really cool life changing events. Cheers guys!
So yeah, announcement over. Will post some pics once we get back from our honeymoon.
felt_tips saidYou have a different opinion from envato then. A recent e-mail exchange with envato’s support made me realize that the main reason the price of 4K and even 2K stock footage in videohive is much higher than fullHD is because it presupposes a higher quality camera was used to shoot, which means more cost to produce, which translates to better gear = production value. Either way, the way technology is advancing soon enough every consumer camera will be doing 4K and none of this will make any sense… and I’m curious to see what will happen to prices when every stock author in videohive uploads files in 4K.
Sorry…let’s just get this straight. High resolution doesn’t really count as a production value.
So if we start creating AE templates in 4K res they will be sold at $100?
My original question still stands… are we likely to see After Effect template prices rise any time soon?
