I just got a pretty simple, straight forward response from Envato support on the ticket I opened this weekend on this topic essentially just saying no to inclusion of FontAwesome, which is about as open-source, clearly licensed, and well-known as an icon-font could be. So, I’d imagine that doesn’t look positive towards the topic as a whole.

As Mike said, there are some great icon fonts out there that are completely licensed for us to use them in our themes. Some of these even have fairly big followings around them like FontAwesome for Bootstrap, for example.

And with this whole emerging retina display compatibility buzz feature on the horizon that I’m sure will sell many themes for Envato over the next year, I think it’s definitely something that needs to be defined and taken into consideration.

And as Chris said, maybe it would be a good idea for Envato to come have a list of ones we can use. Allow authors to point out new ones to Envato staff and their corresponding licenses in order for them to possibly be approved and added to this list that everyone can benefit from.

Is it possible that this is a WordPress.com site and not a WordPress.org installation on your own server? To use any theme you purchase on ThemeForest, you must have the WordPress PHP application installed on your own hosting account. This is different than setting a website at wordpress.com, which only allows you to install themes from WordPress, I believe.

I know you described the installation process from HostGator which would contradict my suggestion, but if you’ve gotten the two mixed up somehow, it would explain why there’s no Upload link when installing new themes.

Oh, what’s that? Looks like my name on one of those Envato Moleskines!

If I can get a black envato t-shirt, then we can have competing, good vs evil marketplace avatars.

Congrats!

Ok, ok, onto more pressing matters… What’s this little pooper’s Envato handle going to be? This is a very crucial decision in this young one’s life, as Envato only allows you to change this one time upon request.

Does the theme actually have a favicon option? Many do not. In this case, if you’d like to be able to set it up through your WordPress admin, you can just a plugin like this one:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-favicon/

There’s no real reason why it has to be something that’s a part of the theme.
