I have been using Digital Ocean, but I know basically nothing more than what I googled as far as setting up and maintaining a server. I have had one too many problems that I have no idea how to fix with their unmanaged hosting, and realize that I just need to find a new host.

So for someone who kinda needs a control panel (it can be free) and doesn’t know about web servers, can anyone recommend a hosting service that will be able to handle the traffic that themeforest would require when a new theme is on the front page? It would be nice if it wasn’t $50/month as well :P

It’s minimum hours agreed for the Home page?
There is no agreed minimum.. it’s a lottery :)

Yes, it’s far too random. The best thing I can do to have a successful theme is to get it posted just right, as the last item added on a monday morning. It makes more of a difference than making the theme nicer.

I have put off developing another wordpress theme mainly because I don’t know how integrating a page builder is going to work with the new guidelines.

Can anyone answer to whether or not we will be allowed to still use a page builder plugin like visual composer in our themes after this second stage is in effect?

In November when the new standards come into place and all non wordpress default features must be plugins rather than included in themes, I am wondering what will authors do in place of their current page builders?

Will you re-code your page builder as a plugin? Is it already a plugin? Will you use an open source version?

I have seen several themes use the Visual Composer plugin from codecanyon. Does anyone know if this will be allowed to be used in themeforest themes?

I did not read all the pages, but what you are saying is that we have to remake the structures in old themes. Are you serious? We will end up having to recreate themes from scratch because they do not follow this guidelines, and better up just closing the account and starting another. What is this?

This is exactly what I wanted some clarification about. My themes have things like:

- my custom made page builder on pages/posts with a ton of elements
- portfolio with filter
- custom post types
- customized premium sliders
- custom widgets

What do I do with all of this? Do I need to create a plugin for anything that wouldn’t directly translate into the default 2013 wordpress theme?

For themes that gradually get a few sales here and there how are we supposed to spend this much time completely re-doing them? Themes that aren’t on the weekly top sales list already receive virtually no benefit from being updated as even if we completely re-vamped them they would get zero exposure and no one would know about the new features except those who already purchased it.

This is forcing us to spend a fairly huge amount of time in exchange for no compensation. Why wouldn’t I just go back to a day job? It’s like you’re trying to emphasize how uncertain taking the self employed route can possibly be.

Did you even look at the screenshot? Nivo slider is not used anywhere in my theme and not referenced either. All style and js loaded is needed on every page.
