@designcrumbs Can you please share sales dynamics changes when it’ll be available? I’m not talking about absolute numbers – only dynamics. Maybe in month or couple of month. Thanks!
Sure thing! You might have to remind me, though

designcrumbs saidI see that some of your themes are now gpl. Can you explain more why you chosen to use this license?
Wow, thanks guys! I’m constantly amazed by our community. I was just drinking my morning coffee while reading what happened overnight (for me) and then I see the community “nominating” me. It was a pleasant surprise.![]()
All of my WP themes are GPL now.
This is the license that most of the WP community backs, and I want to be part of that community. Participating in things like WordCamps is important to me. The WordPress Foundation was clear that WordPress was built 100% GPL so they want all derivatives to be GPL, and I have no problem with that.
Personally, I don’t see much difference between the split license and GPL in practice. Sure, GPL allows users to redistribute my items, but lets face it, that was being done anyway.Ok but they were redistributed illegally and for free, you wouldn’t have a problem with someone legally buying a license of your theme and reselling it for half the price for example?
That was happening already, for $5 in fact. I prefer to roll with the punches and spend my time creating my themes than to try to fight distribution, legal or illegal.

PixelBuffet said+1 that motion.
Also, on a seperate point. I think your ‘home-grown’ author should be DesignCrumbs (jake). His themes are now 100% GPL and he was the driving force behind the change.

Also great idea about DesignCrumbs being the featured author for EnvatoMail, a nice closing of the loop so to speak!

I’d love to give this a whirl if you’re still looking for people.

RubenBristian saidActually I’m pretty sure the average buyer simply doesn’t care about licenses and doesn’t read them, he/she wants to buy theme and setup a website, that’s all.
I don’t believe that the average buyer has an idea of what GPL is or that it does matter for him.. Because the GPL thing came from wp.org not from the buyers..
Agreed. Not only that, but others are making the argument that distributing of the themes will occur. Sure, it will, but it happens already. People do what they want with the themes regardless of the license. And the buyers who buy a license for each site they use it on will also still do that because its the right thing to do, again, regardless of the license.
