There are probably lots of ways to implement that effect, but I can only think of two at the moment. The simplest is to overlay the image with a translucent *.png that has a checkered pattern. The other more complicated method is to create a custom filter via the BitmapData class.

Nowadays no users cares IE8 and below, so no worries.
Do you have any data to support that statement?

VF saidTotally agree.Im on window7 too.firefox is behaving crazy after 3.6.1.Had to switch to chrome. Now im using firefox only during testing and for firebug
^ After 3.6 I see version number inversely proportional to performance (on some areas), atleast in windows 7.
Chrome has a Firebug equivalent built right into the browser. Its called Developer Tools, just use the short-cut Ctrl-Shift-I to enable it (for windows systems).

Regarding flash games sector dSKY this actually 1 sector I think will fade first from the flash world or will be on the basic level nothing more….
How did you come by that conclusion?

I think most of the games are build using this pattern.
I’m not too sure about that. From what I’ve read, the common trend for that last decade or so has been to use Entity/Component systems for game architecture. Unity3D is essentially an entity/component system and the now defunct PushButtonEngine was an implementation of an Entity/Component system as well.
MVC is pretty much the domain of large-scale enterprise applications.
bad post

I have said the so many times this will be a complete failure in my view
Flash pretty much gave birth to the casual game industry. In fact the casual game market share has eclipsed that of hand-held game devices (ie. Nintendo DS, PSP etc.). With its massive developer base Flash still has a future in this arena…

… but they should know there are so many better and more friendly alternative making game for mobiles, it’s simple….
Friendly alternative? Simple? You’re not talking about objective-C or HTML5 ’s cumbersome 3-tier workflow…are you?
tsafi saidIf I’m disappointed about anything its how Adobe went about disseminating information. I think the question to ask now is “Will developers stick with the platform by leveraging AIR ?” The answer to that question will ultimately determine the future of flash.
What can i say …i am so disappointed….

When I saw the word StageText i thought it’s going to be just on the display list like stage3d…
Actually Stage3D is not on the display list. Its kinda its own thing.

I am more interesting to see when adobe put out there next Financials Q so I can check and see how many they sell in flash/flex software… that can tell a lot about the overall trend in the coming year.
Given that 4.6 is offered free to those who previously owned Flash Builder 4.5 (or US$50 if you’re upgrading from 4.0), quarterly sales figures may not be a very good indicator in this case.
Have any samples to show? Interested in seeing how it performs.
