@donchev_a .. totally agree with you .. i didn’t want to reply to this thread anymore because as always, people who find this issue a problem are too afraid to join the discussion and people who’re employed by envato (and established authors) are always trying to suppress our voices by telling us that we’re wrong in every way and that whatever envato is doing is totally right. they need to instead value our opinion and listen to us with an open-mind because this is an important issue. they need to keep the pricing fair for everyone (if they want to test new pricing, it needs to be done with every item in that category and not just one) and if they allow that author to be exclusive on minor differences, then we should all be allowed (and yes i’ve contacted support so please don’t tell us over and over again to do that). being featured comes way after the first two points are cleared out and dealt with.

Dude I am done! :) I deleted my files on my personal account (I had 20). I’ll wait passionately for their response. If they have to tell me something.

After that I’ll release all my files for free. Everything with no exception. Plugins, flash files…

I simply can not handle such ignorant behavior. I spent hundreds of dollars on buying items. (I have third account for that). I spent countless hours working on files for Envato, spent in promoting, in support, on the forums trying to help and share opinion. The total I got from here is $4000 for 4 years. This in average $80 monthly. I mean come on, only one freelance project for $2000 for 2 weeks and I am good for an entire year.

Everyone is free to share opinion and free of expression.

I am NOT A SLAVE .(period)

Mee too…tempting but hehe, will not delete! :D

if you think for a second you’ll see, it is meaningless to keep here files. Our work is very high quality. Recently It has been sold for no money with no respect from Envato. I am really pissed.

Hey Dude just to let you know, I deleted my files as well (can’t delete the last one but wrote to the support). It feels Good!

I just can’t give my files for free. Cos it is not profitable selling here anymore!

Cheers and goodbye to all of you. I had a good time here. Unfortunately I HAD .

Envato will never have me back! not that they were eager to have me on their network but I am totally done.

Cheers mates. I’ll see you soon somewhere else! :)

NEVER GIVE UP !

I think $50 is totally fair. Isn’t this just wordpress? The $99 through their website is wordpress & javascript. So you pay half the price here, and you get half the item?

Yes it would be nice for everyone to be featured, but featuring 1300 items isn’t viable – if an item (or author) deserves featuring, it will be featured. You can’t put rules on it (but unique idea + good avg. daily sales + positive item comments help!)

Best to sit back, relax and keep working on your next brilliant item. Plus – getting featured doesn’t really improve sales (compared with been productive/nice on the forums, advertising externally and providing good support – these are things you have control over and are proven to increase sales – don’t rely on front page / feature!).

The exclusivity of the author isn’t something we can decide on here, and really doesn’t affect anyone here. Best to send these type of complaints directly to support. That will be the quickest way to get your problem infront of someone who can fix it.

Lets dial back on the negativity a bit. These big “pro” items bring buyers to the marketplace, and increase exposure to other items. Some of the upcoming “pro” marketplace items will be unique, some will be competing against existing items, but either way they will be good for the marketplace.

Dear dtbaker, I understand your opinion, and your points could be valid under one condition: This is not an open, free and competitive marketplace but corporation where the employees have been hired and fired. But here I think you are totally off.

Here we have the free will to participate or not participate in many ways. In threads, in polls in discussions, by supporting products (which is not a must option), in linking back to our items from our websites and many many more other ways.

Many of the qualities of this marketplaces have been born after such discussions. Many of the nice feature you see here are implemented after open forum discussions.

And what I want to point out is that this is the biggest advantage. 10 000 minds are helping the management of Envato to improve and make the things better.

Sometimes they listen to us sometimes they don’t. Unfortunately in the recent times it looks like our opinion doesn’t really matter. And even worse, there is an author who in a very obvious way takes an advantage of our place and arrogantly violates the Agreement without any penalties.

I have seen other authors kicked out immediately after such actions. In the past the management was very strict about such violations and that is fair. Because having the item only here makes this place unique. Now it looks like they have to make a choice. To change their rules and to allow everyone to publish the same item on their sites, or to remove the exclusivity of that particular author. Or just to hide, and wait for the authors to forget about the issue.

I am surprised that no one from the management even bother them selfs to come here and say: hey guys we are looking at the item and soon we will inform you. They used to do these things! Which was very nice and brought more authors and clients.

I sincerely believe that this move was completely wrong in many ways. The economic situation is constantly changing towards cheaper and cheaper products and solutions. Even the big companies do not spend money as before. Subcontractors is the daily slogan of every IT Manager around the world. Constantly looking to reduce the expense and to increase the profit. Promoting expensive items or heading towards them isn’t the smart move.

I do not need an answer from Envato. I know what they are trying to do and “We care for our joint business and your opinion” is not their priority anymore. It is corporate business. They simply grew up.

Just my 5c.! Cheers!

Hey, guys! Hope you’re all doing well. ...Wow – lots of drama! :)

Exclusivity

My understanding is that what’s for sale here is a bit unique compared to what’s offered on their site. For example, I can sell a jQuery plugin here…but then also sell, say, a Joomla version of the same plugin on my own site without breaking exclusivity.

Nonetheless, I’ll have another look.

Ultimately – this is good for everyone. We should all be excited to see how it performs!

Hi Jeffrey,

I am doing great, thank you!

I have few questions and after your answers I will make my final decision regarding my participation here.

So, from your definition Exclusivity means: “Agreeing to keep your portfolio of items for sale exclusive to the Envato Marketplaces entitles you to a higher percentage of each sale – from 50% to 70%. You can still sell other items elsewhere (on other marketplaces, your own site) however any items you place on an Envato Marketplace must be exclusively sold there.

1.Do you think the product they sale here is marketed as a different label compared to the one they sell on their site?

2.Do you think it has significantly big differences from the one they sell on their web site to be called different item? (different coding, different technology, different options, and etc. or only the licensing is different)

3.Do you really believe in that “Ultimately – this is good for everyone” if 100% of the developers here simply CAN NOT develop/market/support similar thing on similar scale, so they can sell it and benefit from your new test with SlideDeck (it took Digital Telepathy years to come to this shape of the slider and many corporate clients who were paying them to develop that kind of product – API and so on.)?

Thanks! Best

Persons like DS made this place. They were in the beginning.

DC, Bobocel, wangruyi, jurgenv, sike, Richardson and I think these people need to have a special Honor badge… the people who made this marketplaces possible. Cos all other marketplaces came after Flash Den and were following the same model.

DC was and is inspiration for many other Flash devs and at some point he was among these few people who were creating the standards in the flash design/development area.

No one can take this away from him!

Thank you DC!

Where the hell is the ship i wanna go with you people, the 10 000$ for two months ship i mean. Where is it?

freelance. Recently noticed that more and more companies are realizing that hiring a freelancer is much cheaper than hiring a company and even more the quality is better.

most of the people here are top-notch designers and developers. Otherwise they will not be able to sustain the higher and higher clients expectation.

Most of the clients here expect more quality/value for lesser money. And this is Envato’s strategy. But for a developer to bring more quality he needs more time. Spending more time requires more return/income. Once when the return is less than the time spend on an item, the developers will not be able anymore to afford uploading items here because it will not be beneficial.

On the other side, having a project for $1000-$2000 (I can build such a website in less than a week) using components from Envato for $4-$5 bucks makes much more sense. Just changing the side of the fence to which I belong. I want to be benefited from my work and this crazily cheap (high quality) items and earn money. ;)

Bro, do like me. I left this place! How do you know? Well I do not upload files anymore! Can’t you see?

It is not drama it is the truth.

The truth is that few people make decent bucks here… most of us make between $100-$500. I make $80 bucks. without uploading.

Well if I live in Uganda maybe this will be fine, but for all of those who live in developed country Envato is no more a choice.

You can see items which take moths to develop sold for $4-$5.

I understand Envato earn and grow. There always will be enough developers to upload for income of $50 > <$500, but for now this is not a choice for me.

I do not upload. I do my own stuff and get $10 000 per 2-3 months on a side of my regular job sallary.

But do not delete your files. In 6-7 months you’ll have $1000. It doesn’t hurts.

Good luck boy and u know I love you Ben! donchev_a.

Sorry to hear about your issues for sure, just a thought – have you contacted the author in question with the issues and given them a chance to replicate your issues etc and see if they can fix – not saying you are wrong at all just saying that to help someone improve they need structured feedback etc to understand where their possible issues may be so they can attempt to fix – let’s face it, nothing is perfect and with themes and hosting, server setups, incorrectly formatted code, different users and the freely available plugins it’s hard to make sure everything works seamlessly with so many moving targets.

I understand! Just this was too much!

I’ll give you an example. When you write HTML and you have paragraph what tag do you use? I use < p >. These guys do not use tags for the paragraphs at all. Seriously!

HTML is not object oriented, but how do you address the code formating with CSS if you can’t hook up the styles to an object? Well you make a big mess and done. Looks good but…

I am still working on this theme (for a client) and I am really pissed, so I think the best is just to stop reading this thread.
