Why wouldn’t the guy just pay $45 for an extended licence, instead of 4,500 * $9 ?

The question is, why do you even check themes on IE8?

It’s your duty to tell your client, with IE8 support, comes great performance drawbacks and compatibility issues.

IE8: less than %7: http://gs.statcounter.com/#browser_version_partially_combined-ww-monthly-201212-201312

It isn’t as simple as that – when lots of high profile clients (e.g. government bodies) use older versions of Windows OS and hardware, you cannot just de-support them (as much as you’d want to) and you cannot influence the version of web browser they use, no matter how strong the argument.

And besides, his point was that some themes claim to support IE8, but actually don’t – it’s misleading to buyers.

Hi,

Looking at mobile HTML templates, to produce a mobile-friendly version of the web app that lots of our customers use. Do I need to purchase a standard licence for this one product that many end-users will use OR do I need an extended licence?

Many thanks!

+1

I’ve experienced this same problem many times in the past too.

Try with closing the theme switcher (or iframe).

I always close the theme switcher, so that’s not affecting it for me personally.

So – If we accept that Chrome has issues with Parallax themes, and some people are disabling it by default (particularly as Chrome is the no. 1 browser now), then why are they so popular? Seems like an awful trend?

Parallax themes are cool, they look great, but despite the fact I’m on the latest version of Chrome and using an extremely fast laptop, does anyone else find that 99% of them run like a dog?

So unfortunately, as much as I may like the theme itself, I’d never purchase it because the user will probably be on the receiving end of such an awful experience when visiting the site.

I hope this trend passes soon.

Or is it just me?

Hey,

I’m working on a homepage redesign, which I’m fairly pleased with overall. But it’s just not quite right yet, and I can’t put my finger on what’s missing (or should be).

I wonder if you guys have any thoughts on what might make this design look & flow better?

Any comments at all welcome – don’t worry if it’s to tell me you hate it!

Edit: It’s only the top area by the way :)

Cheers,

Dan

Go with 1140, that’s what Bootstrap uses and it’s just fine if you ask me.

Ah awesome, that makes sense. Thanks!

Hi,

I’ve always worked with fixed width pages as a personal preference, but recently the trend is to large fluid landing page-style designs, especially for homepages. So I’m thinking of jumping on the bandwagon and creating a really nice wide intro homepage (and retaining fixed with for the rest of the site).

The page will be responsive – however, what sort of max width should I be designing the content for? 1024px? larger? I’m honestly not sure what the best max is :)

Cheers!

Dan
