I’m currently designing a PSD Template and I found a couple of nice icons under the Creative Commons 3.0 Licence. I’d like to know if I can include these in the downlaod file.
CC License 3.0 says that:
You are free:
- to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
- to Remix — to adapt the work
Under the following conditions:
- attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
I’m about to purchase the royalt free the icons set license. The Royalt Free License says that
This is a legal agreement between you, the purchaser, and Yusuke Kamiyamane. By purchasing or downloading any royalty-free icons from our website, you agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement.
All of the icons remain the property of Yusuke Kamiyamane. Yusuke Kamiyamane grants to you a nonexclusive, non-sublicensable right to use the icons royalty-free according to the license terms for any commercial or personal design and software projects. Including web designs, blog themes, software applications, advertising, film, video, and computer games.
The license does not permit the following uses: The icon may not be sublicensed, resold, rent, transfer, or otherwise made available for use or detached from a product, software application, or web page. The Icons may not be placed on any electronic bulletin board, downloadable format. You may not use, or allow anyone else to use The Icons to create pornographic, libelous, obscene, or defamatory material.
All icon files are provided “As is” By purchasing any of the Icons you agree to hold Yusuke Kamiyamane harmless for any damage that may occur during to use or inability to use them.
I have already sent an email to the author regarding the use of the icons if I am permitted or not. Anyway, this sounds freaking confusing!!!!
This part sort of makes clear I can’t include in my templates: “The icon may not be sublicensed, resold, rent, transfer, or otherwise made available for use or detached from a product, software application, or web page.“
But anyways, I’m still confused!!
