I prefer the app store…

I did too, until they stopped accepting all my cards…

I just looked at the new Coda screenshots and I think I will still stick with Espresso app which I switched to from Coda about a year ago :) Those of you thinking about Coda, try Espresso too – they are similar yet different, but you will have the choice between two products.

Why are people so impressed when Envato does things they should have done light years ago?

Light years is a measure for distance, not time. ;)

Back to your question, Envato is great, and the team is doing a very good job to keep it a high-quality market. nuff said.

:) Love this one.

And yet, time is relative.

So is excellence, accomplishment, success, and just about everything we can conceive of subjectively.

Just relatives.

That ‘just’ means both “only”, and “balanced in proportion i.e. A just cause”.

And aren’t we are all just relatives here? ;)

All of the community, one way or another, are just relatives to one another, be it buyers, authors, visitors, staff. Our degree of expression of satisfaction is.. yeah.. just and justly relative, to our user experience, based on expectations and outcomes, and in some part due to the attitudes we ourselves project, I imagine.

Why are some people so impressed? Because they are happy? Better late than never? Hope for future? I think it’s been summed up by the many responses in this thread. :)

All I can say is I know Envato strives for excellence, yes. Does it always hit the nail on the head every single day? Should some things have happened sooner? You know the answer. :)

Which would you rather come first, though? The fail, or the win?

Concretely though, The hectic pace of managing so many ongoing projects means there is chaos in any attempt to improve order, as with most growing systems, and due to the relative and sometimes shifting priorities of issues, it can mean that intentions and plans don’t always eventuate in a completely predictable manner. Yet when they finally happen, often delayed, people will either be happy, or see it as too little too late, or anything in between.

I guess that’s why we get this flurried mix of voices time and again.

In this case, The way I see it is that without a negative expression to begin with, there’s one less opportunity for positive reinforcement, to celebrate the virtues of this community.

Just sayin’, it’s just relatives.

So thanks Landon, you’ve brought out the good in quite a few people here, in a roundabout way. Reverse win. :D

Maybe Envato could try focusing on less projects, look at what happened to Google.

I saw a similar script the other day, not sure if it’s based on it or not, but here you go:

I would love to help you, but you wanted to replace prettyphoto with JW plugin which is a task that needs to be done throughout the source code on different locations and what not. Not to mention it’s not just a simple replace, there might arise some troubles or bugs. This is a too big of a customization for us to cover it under free support. Thanks for understanding and I am sorry to hear you are giving it away :( If there is anything else we can do for you, just contact us. Have a great day! :)

I know he released it for free under a license which doesn’t require you to give him a single penny but have you at least donated towards the work this guy has done which has got you nearly 300 sales?

That’s a good moral question, but nothing more. I personally wouldn’t give him a dime after threatening with lawyers and all that 75% business. You should be able to tell on your own when you make a mistake and when it’s time to move on. He made a mistake so why should Kuba be punished?

edit: This whole thing smells with greed and envy, I don’t like it :)

Kubo, as long as you use the MIT version of the script I don’t see a problem there. The script is distributed “as is” along with a license. If either the license or the script changes, it’s a different package and should be treated as that. My impression is that the script author is now simply “crying over spilled milk”, because once you go MIT on something, you can’t just take it back lol. Regarding the lawyer, he is just playing you. I wouldn’t worry about it ;)

Hi SyamilMJ!

thank you for your response.

2.) I think that this is abad future decision. Because you can flood the upload dir with all unused images like nyc-50×50.jpg, nyc 52×52.jpg and other. In my resizing script I’m storing the timestamp into the database and user can se how often will be the cache deleted.

5.) What if you want to resize some images based on the theme needs ( for example background image which has different sizes for different templates )

cheers, freshface
