Has anybody seen any good example of somebody with a website that successfully splits their content into professional (background, portfolio) and personal (family photos, blogs)? CAN a professional website publicly share personal content too and still be professional? Examples? Or is the best solution to always separate business and personal to either different websites or make the personal stuff hidden? Just curious for thoughts.
I asked this question a short while ago about this specific website design but I got no response. But since it seems that these questions would easily apply to nearly half of all the themes here at ThemeForest I figured I’d ask the same general question here and maybe I’ll get some feedback.
The general gist of my question is that many ThemeForest website designs include elements that would involve server side application scripting. Like Search Boxes, Contact Forms, and most complicated of all Blogs. For instance, website designs are sold with Blog sections but I’m doubting the design includes a fully functioning blog application (if it did wouldn’t they need to specify required server environments like php and mySQL), so what’s the deal? And if it’s just the Blog theme without any functionality then shouldn’t there be specifications as to what blogs this is meant to work with (WordPress, Blogger, etc) and how (hosted)? And finally, if the HTML design was never meant to integrate with a functional blogging system like WordPress or Blogger then isn’t it just misleading to include a blog page in a template if you can’t use it without totally reconstructing every bit of it?
Although much less complicated, the same line of questions goes for all these templates that include a Search Box or Contact Form? Sure I know how easy it is to make a Contact Form functional with php but what about a newbie that is literally doing a pure HTML site with no server side scripting. Themes don’t list any server requirements so a buyer would assume that the contact form they just bought will work. And even though I generally know what I’m doing I would have no idea how to make a Search Box function (other than a Google Site Search query).
So how does all his work with themes including elements that potentially couldn’t be used by buyers? I’m just trying to figure out how this all works since it’s common throughout ThemeForest. Thanks.
So what’s the latest in this saga? I’ve been waiting for this project file to return so I can purchase it. But I can’t keep waiting. Any updates?
