Type, type & type. Truly strong type combinations are always key for me. Get those down early on, and I feel that everything flows organically from that.
Now where did I put that Comic Sans & Lobster combo
Let me pick up on some issues that I see.
Typography – Try some different font combinations. Maybe a San-Serif for your headings, and a serif font for your body copy. The type currently looks really bland.
Animations – The animation (text) in the header cheapens the designs completely. Looks like someone who has discovered animations for the first time. Get rid of it.
White Space – Take a look through the theme, there are issues everywhere. Let the design breathe a little.
For me, in all my designs, type is key. Font combinations can make, or break a design.
Congratulations. Again, as others have said, you produce fantastic work, and thoroughly deserved.
Stunning. And you have a room called Manchester, big love on that point.
Only thing missing. I expected there to be portraits of all Elite Authors hanging on the walls? Not happy about this exclusion
Yes, it’s gotten quite ridiculous. My personal opinion at present, why should my WP theme that I’ve spent weeks/months on get pushed off the homepage in hours by a flurry of ‘coming soon’ templates??
+1 For current files submitted today 63% of files are under $20, so if you spent a few months on a $40 – $50 you’ll have to compete for exposure with those cheaper / easier to build files within a 9hr exposure window as MPC experienced. When is Envato going to actually wake up?
I know Envato have so many things on the go, pipeline etc.., but the re-design of the homepage, search etc.. has to move to Def-Con One. It has to go to the top of ‘to do’ list, it really does.
Just want to add that my new theme, just left the home page after 9 hours I am really starting to think about loosing the exclusivity…

Our second Ghost theme is now live, and kicking -http://themeforest.net/item/writr-a-clean-bold-ghost-theme/6011218
Thanks Envato, it seems my theme ‘Venkman’ is the first Ghost theme on TF. I feel quite humbled.http://themeforest.net/item/venkman-a-clean-modern-ghost-theme/5879275
Have tinkered with Sublime Text before (it is fantastic), but keep sticking with Espresso, which I have used since version 1.
Espresso for code editing, CodeKit for when working with my SASS files, and Transmit for FTP (because the FTP in Espresso is still a bit poop).
A little off-topic but now use Sketch 2 for design comps (sacked Photoshop recently, after many years)
Happy birthday folks. Here’s to another 7!!!
