Fantastic feedback, thank you
I really appreciate everyone’s suggestions. iKreativ, could you please elaborate a little on color theory? Perhaps your thoughts are in line with what dpthemes has shared?
In general I have had positive feedback from people regarding the dark style, as it is not quite as common as the many light themes on themeforest. Do you guys agree? Perhaps it is just better to go for a light style and give the end user the option of choosing a dark option..
I am hoping for some community feedback on my theme if possible. The feedback from the reviewer is : “I’m sorry but as we have high standards your item has been declined due to its current level of design quality. The overall concept and structure looks fine (for example the slider) but design wise is not up to par with our standards.” ... “You might consider improving your design with more unique features and graphics in order for it to stand out among other marketplace items. However, a unique design will be a key factor for approval.”

The suggestions I received on the first rejection were all valid, and very specific. It was also very clearly stated that after those changes were made it would likely be accepted. Hence I was very surprised to receive the second ‘sweeping’ rejection statement. One would think that if it weren’t good enough in general that would be stated on the first rejection, rather than on the second! (though they were two different reviewers).
Has anyone received the above (rather ambiguous) rejection reason, and then had it subsequently approved? I am skeptical as to whether it will be accepted given the highly inconsistent feedback I have now received.
The upside is this is always a great opportunity to learn and improve!
Thanks for any feedback and comments
I would think so, it looks pretty pro! Although my first attempt was rejected a few days ago so im not the right person to comment, yet
My only suggestion would be to add a logo instead of the bridge title, as the header looks a little empty at the moment.
I think this is a beautiful theme! Really easy to look at, with the key ingredients in all the right places… nice work!
Perhaps the fonts suggestion is a good one… Although it didnt negatively affect my ‘experience’ at first, it does make it look a bit unnecessarily busy.
Great work though, really.
Hey guys, again, thanks so much for the generous suggestions!
I’ve worked on it a bit more today, adding a few goodies… twitter widget, testimonials custom post type, widget and shortcode, plus a few more visual enhancements (thanks Keliah).
Ill do a bit more work on it tomorrow based off Massix’s suggestions and then i think its time for a resubmit!
Fingers crossed… thanks for all your help!

It seems that the css box and text shadow really slows down rendering, oh well.. it’s not really that necessary anyhow!
The padding advice is excellent too.. thank you.
I’ve updated it a fair bit now based on everyones feedback. I’m sure there is still more to do, and i’m not 100% sold on the slider yet, it may still be too simple.
What do you think guys?
Nice work… The sizing is looking so much better! The margins could still do with some work, particularly in the footer, but it is coming along really well!
Sweet idea for the theme, I love how much punch its got!
I agree with the above points too, in that the sizing of the elements is a bit off, mostly too big. I would also suggest using text colors on the menu and footer links that are of greater contrast with the background, as they blend in a bit too much at the moment.
A nicer headline font (cufon probably) could help too.. the current font is a bit off, particularly the edge aliasing…
That’s my 2 cents! Nice job so far though
Here my hints for you:
1. The colour scheme doesnt work. Too much colours and you use also colours that dont fit together. Take a combination of white, grey, black or a combination of white, light blue and grey
2. The slider need some pimping. Use a drop shadow or some cool bg like an iPad or something like this, because this looks really plain in the moment.
3. Look at the icons and your text. The social media icons are bigger than your headings and the icons in the content section are a little bit old school.
4. Create more uniqueness with cooler buttons, gimmicks and more.
The coding looks good, but it needs some improvements with jQuery, for example in the portfolio section.
You can send me your web design psd and I change the stuff inside for you and I promise it will accepted after you changed it in your live preview.Greetings
Wow Massix, that is so generous of you. I really appreciate both your suggestions and your willingness to help me out with the design!
I agree with all of your suggestions as well… its so useful to have fresh sets of eyes on the theme to help move it forward. I’ll make the changes you have suggested and perhaps you could check them out once their done, rather than spending your valuable time on the psd
Anyone else got suggestions? This is a hoot!
Looks like we are in the same boat haha! My first theme was rejected today as well.
Overall I like your theme and find it hard to give you any advice haha
One area I think could be improved is the slider. It just looks a bit plain. I’m not really sure what you could do to improve this. Maybe add a subtle texture behind it or something? Just an idea.
Also I think some of the text could benefit from being another colour other than plain black. Like on the second section of the homepage with the text and icons, maybe make that text the same colour as the headings above it.
Well that will at least give you something to think about. Sorry I couldn’t have been more help!Zef
Haha that is pretty funny… same message and all huh?
Thanks for your feedback… I appreciate the suggestions. I think you are right, the text could do with a bit of colour love. It seems that the slider definitely needs some work too, I’ve had a few comments saying as mucch.
Thanks so much mate
