Canon 5D and 5D Mark II…The Mark II is definitely better

11 days…Kinda long, no?

I have been doing fine uploading via FTP for the past few months until tonight. After a couple batches of 30 or so that went thru well, the little triangle next to the photo file (where the model release file is located) now disappears when I click on it to bring down the Model release file. I tried logging off and on, clicking all over but the MR file never reappears. When it magically reappears briefly after a reconnect, I put a MR in there just to have an error of “550 Failed to change directories”.

Is this something I caused by clicking wrong? And if so, what can I do to set it right so I can upload the MR? Thanks!

I’m sure there are many like me who read but don’t post replies (just don’t have that much wisdom to add to it! ) I have seen several who have a port one-tenth my size yet have ten times the revenue (We’re not even going to talk about the top ten microstockers…)...Awesome shots do it. Gotta work on mine more. And more. Wish I could make an eight hour day of it for efficient workflow, like the successful ones, but I have an hour here and there. Small wonder it’s not paying back more. It grows every month with my doing very little, though. I imagine what it would be like if I actually did full time.

From my own experience, go for the best you can buy. I started out buying a Canon Powershot also. $500 (cuz I was too cheap to go higher). Found that it could not get decent enough pictures to get many accepted. Upgraded to a Canon Rebel XT for $700. Ho-hum acceptance. Went to Canon 5D for $1700. Suddenly my pics went from less than 60% acceptance to roughly 85%, using same techniques and exposure, etc. But then the 5D Mark II went on super sale for $1800 and I jumped. My acceptance is now around 95% and the quality shames whatever my 5D put out (picture quality not composition quality, mind you). In all, I spent $3000 more than I should have if I had just bought the 5D Mark II in the first place. There is value in the full frame camera with acceptance by stock sites. I am not saying smaller, cheaper cameras do not work, but it will be more difficult.

After many tries, I understand the photo and MRs upload process now … but it really could be a lot simpler, like with an “upload MR” button right under the photo upload button so it could be attached to the specific photo. Glad something easier is coming out soon!

I understand we can pile on all our MRs when we ftp but how would anyone (the reviewers) know which MR is for whom?

Yes, I upload with Firefox and the title is always skewed. Very hard to tell if my title is correct or not. Thought it was only me.

Well, pleasantly surprised. This last batch actually worked with the MRs. Yay!

Fingers crossed…uploaded pics with MR. We will see if it goes thru this time round.
