My ongoing project; “Photo Community”, wich will be available from here in the future. Currently putting a skin on my application (not all parts visible yet) allthough design is not my strongest side, but it’s easier to show you.

For me it is the opposite, I feel that I can code anything (almost), but I don’t usually have enough good ideas (not entirely true perhaps, since I’ve got a few while reading and writing in this thread).

I find that coming up with ideas is the really, really easy part. I’m never without a nice idea as to what I should build. I’ve already gotten a few nice ideas which I can start cracking on with.

The difficult part is actually sitting down and coding them, I’m always busy these days haha :)

As for where you can draw inspiration from: Check everything. Literally, check everything every day. I come here and always follow the new items, the “buzz”, what’s selling etc etc.

If you take those items, try to find what they are “missing” and create a product out of that. Also, try to think about what isn’t on here (there’s lots!)

For example, Envato has a badge system, maybe you can chuck together a simple database and a class for creating, editing and deleting badges that users can add to wordpress or their site.

I don’t understand what the term “HighRise” means, but I’ve actually built a CRM system for a client quite recently. So it might be my next project to put a complete CRM system here too. I do also know how to use a few payment API ’s, so it should not be that hard to implement a subscription system.

Thanks for your reply!

A smart approach would be to find products that are already very commercially popular. Specially those offered via subscription such as CRM systems, Billing, Project tracking.

I have not found a nice HighRise CRM alternative. Considering coding one soon. Dont try to invent a new wheel, just a better mousetrap!

Halfway through one of my upcoming projects, I eventually made up my mind and I’m now building a complete photo community application.

Besides setting the quality parameter you could perhaps store the original image on the server also? Then display the original image on request only, allthough wether this is useful depends on what you’re using the images for.

Oh… it does not work on Snow Leopard (requires 10.7 or later), too bad it because it looks like an application I would love to use in the future.
But it works in 10.8 which is good since that is the future, version 2 is working fine under 10.6 I suggest that you use v2 until you upgrade.
Where can I find the older version?

Thank you very much! :)

Thanks for your reply and thoughts on this. I think I need more than one hour to come up with a great idea though, I’m used to build things by request only.

Some ideas popped up while writing this post. Something like a complete rental agency system perhaps. For real estate, cars or something similar. Did not find too many items in the marketplace like this either, that’s a good thing for me.

Think I’m on the right track, finally.

Thanks!
