Your theme may just pass as a free theme but can’t be called premium as there are a lot of issues including:

- typography – it’s poor, fonts all over the place, no consistent styling

- design – it’s like most other themes, there is nothing unique to make it stand out, the footer lets the site down the most

- features – again it has a lack of features e.g. parallax, jquery animations etc

- issues – there are a lot of issues e,g, rollovers on team photos have no icons, paragraph color (grey) isn’t dark enough, it makes it difficult to read on the white.

It needs a lot of work imho, it probably needs 6-10 hours serious work on it to even see it get close to being a premium theme.
Thank you for your reply, I will take them into account. I appreciate your help :) I don’t understand you with your opinion on the typography though, how it is all over the place? I have used one font for the theme (Raleway).
It’s the spacing and line-heights, typography is about more than just the font :)

I understand, do you have any suggestions as to what I could do with the design? What I could add or change to make it stand out more?

This looks like a really great start but perhaps you can think about:

Make it less generic. The theme doesn’t particularly bring anything new or improved to the market.

I really like the typography and chosen fonts I just think that the spacing is a bit awkward for the different sections. For example, the home hero area at the top has a big padding above the text but not so much below it: http://d.pr/i/d02S

Another example, the very large icons in the generic text section above the teeny images in the portfolio section. The size ratio doesn’t make much sense: http://d.pr/i/99B6

Speaking of the portfolio feature, the images also seem quite small on the actual portfolio page too even without ginormous icons to compare them to: http://goo.gl/w5tgK8

If you’re going for minimalism, you’ve gotta do it really REALLY well. Not to say that this is bad, it’s just that in order to pull off a theme with few “bells and whistles” like this, it has to have absolutely perfect typography, spacing, etc.

Other things:

—The gallery arrows are too big in relation to the other elements on the page: http://d.pr/i/zAsi

—You should really think about what other value (features) you’d like to add to the theme.

Don’t get disheartened. Keep at it! Rejections can only make us stronger designers and developers.

Thank you for your input :)

Just had my second theme rejected which the usual rubbish;

‘Unfortunately your submission SweetHeat – Responsive Agency Theme isn’t ready for ThemeForest and cannot be resubmitted as it did not meet our minimum requirements for quality and/or Envato Market policies. In order for submissions to be considered for sale they must be of high aesthetic and technical quality, unique to our library and cannot be in violation of Envato’s policies. Please see our Knowledgebase for more information: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/399/57/'

Now I think everyone will agree with me here this is very frustrating especially when reviewers will not give us a reasonable explanation as to why the theme isn’t acceptable.

We all spend countless hours designing these and to have them sit at their computer desk, copy and paste the above and click reject can be very annoying.

I have no idea where to go with my theme now and what to do with it, I would like it to still be published on ThemeForest but no idea how to ‘improve’ it to a high enough ‘quality’. If any of you have any suggestions I would very much like to hear them.

The link to my theme is, http://htmlthemesforyou.com/Sweetheat/

Thank you for your time :)

I wasn’t planning on making a wordpress site though, just a static one with the implementation of the ordering system!

Thanks for your reply :)

I’ve just bagged myself a client that owns a restaurant and he wants the functionality of allowing customers to order takeaway online for collection/delivery.

I’ve never looked into this before so don’t have a clue where to start. I have little programming experience so building this sort of system myself is out of the question. Are they any trusted systems/scripts out there that can do this for me?

Okay I’m fuming now. THEMEFOREST IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE . GET SOME NEW REVIEWERS . I’ve updated 3 times and you still reject me. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM .

I’m going to ask you again nicely to stop insulting everything. It’s the last time I do so. Afterwards I’m locking the thread and report you to higher staff!

You got all the possible constructive criticism! It’s just up to you now! If you get rejected, take a deep breath, and try again! If you don’t want to try again, they simply quit! You either work your head off, or you quit! :)
I am working my head off, and its getting me no where!

That still doesn’t mean you should discharge your anger on the marketplace/reviewer for him doing his job. I got rejected @17 times on one file, what should I have done? Locate and exterminate the reviewer?

And I’m not the only guy around here with 10+ rejections on a file! Now, I get soft rejected, rejected once every 4/5 files!
Improve, polish, update, add new things, be unique, add your own style!
Those things count! :)
That’s what I’ve done yet they still continue to reject. They’re not even looking at the changes they’re just clicking the damn reject button again!
