I tried to update 2 themes today, both themes gave me a different response. On my older theme I was able to upload the theme file. However on my newer theme, I wasn’t able to upload the theme file. I had to upload the whole package. Support team, do you have any clue? I don’t think this is because the compressing method since I compressed both theme files using the same method.

Hi WPExplorer, the fixed error message should be live now; If you’re still having issues creating the zip files on windows could you send me an example windows created zip file, and a description of how you created it, to <my forum username>@envato.com and I’ll have a poke around and try and work out why it’s not being accepted

I’ve posted a reply in the above linked thread explaining what I believe the problem is.

TL;DR: the error message is wrong. It’s being fixed tomorrow. Just zip the contents of the ”/theme/” folder instead of the ”/theme/” folder itself and it should upload ok

Hi WPExplorer, I’ve had a look into this and I think the problem is that the error messages the upload page is giving out are telling you to do the wrong thing entirely

I’ll try and deploy and update for those error messages first thing tomorrow, but in the meantime the format you need to upload is just a zip containing a single folder, and that folder is named after your theme. None of this /theme/theme_name/ business that you’re being told when there’s an error

I’ve uploaded the file that you got to us (via Kai Loon) after re-zipping it as just the “Surplus” folder (containing index.php and everything else) and it’s accepted ok.

I’m not sure where the misleading error message came from, but I hope these helps clear things up. Sorry about that

Sorry about that guys. I refactored some nasty coupling out of our user/badge models and it looks like I slipped up on the elite badge. It should be fixed now; Sorry again!

We think we’ve tracked down the source of those blank pages; some funky character encoding errors were happening which, as they bubbled up the stack, managed to break every layer of the chain, hence blank pages were served and we werent getting any helpful debugging info. It seems to have calmed down since that deploy so hopefully that’ll be the last of that.

Hey guys, Just popping in to explain what happened here.

miseld’s account was disabled by support in response to a ticket suggesting his account may have been hacked. When a user is disabled, their items are also disabled. When the user is reenabled the items are supposed to go back to whatever state they were in before, but for some reason this failed to happen.

I’ve opened a maintenance ticket to investigate why this happened and fix it, and manually reverted all of miseld’s items to their previous states.

I hope you dont have too much trouble getting back your accounts on other services
