@xmdsys: I think you’ve a reply above, why do you ignore it? My post right after Kailoon, you really have nothing to tell about it?

@Pheonix_zero + @jscheetz: I don’t know about you, but I’m sure you can see those “accepted” themes with W3C invalid codes, that’s enough for me. It shows that “quality” in TF does not mean the thing it means in English language.

TF is not as good as you guys claim it’s.

1 more thing, as soon as I find a similar website, I’ll leave here, I promise, because of so many issues not just this.

Jeff,

Maybe we should do something unusual, accept the theme and we’ll see how much it sells, if you were right then it’ll sell around 4, 5 copies, hmm? what do you think? My guess is around 30.

Agreed?

Hi Jeff,

Sorry, so it doesn’t matter that many of those “accepted” templates are not W3C valid? and you were not the one who rejected mpONE with the same reason?

Good, TF is really good, perfect, cool, brill, ace.

Thanks !

Hi,

I’m not angry anymore, because they made me sit and imagine whole the issue in longterm. TF will definitely lose the current position it has (do I sound aggressive? no, it’s called being “down-to-the-Earth”) so I’ve made some decisions.

Anyway, my theme rejected, not because of the quality but because it was “too soon” to be accepted, I still believe this.

How come? Let’s do some reviews:

- Rejected: The search box is unreasonably too wide.

- Rejected: Maybe purple shouldn’t be used on gray, it looks “messy”! (huh!)

- Reject: Not W3C valid (I’m not talking about the alt in img tags, they’re from CMS side) ( http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwordpressthemes.oscaralcala.com%2Fmagstar%2F )

- Reject: Bad typography, plain dropdown menus.

- Rejected: Not W3C valid , http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fbenzo.madmenwalking.com%2F

- Rejected: Not W3C valid, http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.topnotchwp.com%2F , and bad colours, bad layout

(Note that I’m not talking about the errors that come from CMS side, like alt absence in img tags and such (meaning: the rest of the errors are important and must not be ignored at all)

@ XMDSYS : Maybe, instead of doing designers’ job, which’s obviously “designing” the typography, spacing, padding, etc. you should take care of more important stuffs, like above. Of course, I’m not saying they have to be all W3C valid but at least could have less critical errors.

Example: my mpFOUR:

http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmehrpadin.net%2Fwordpress%2F

2 errors, both absolutely because of WP (hey WP guys, come here and tell me why your widget-ready sidebars has to left an empty < ul > when having no widgets, is “if” clause too complicated for those guys at Automatic? or maybe by any chance I’m right by saying WP is daft, and Drupal is the best of the best, aye right?)

Furthermore, I recall Jeff rejected my mpONE for the first time, and I did change it a bit, took new screenshots, and resubmitted (meaning: almost no changes and resubmitted), now if you look at my mpONE, which has the same amount of “typography\padding\spacing craziness (if even I could call it craziness)) you’ll see it sold 19 copies so far which’s quite good for Joomla templates over here, and in the Drupal category 11 times.

But, meanwhile, my mpTWO and mpTHREE, that both accepted without any rejection, did not sell even 10 times.

So, XMDSYS , you say those you reject “won’t sell” , so why is that so? maybe I’m wrong? maybe whole the universe is wrong? maybe TF homepage still does not have META DESCRIPTION and META KEYWORDS that you should add? maybe you should open the window and talk to me, huh?

@0703: Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

For the record: the thing happened here was that a WP theme rejected by 2 reviewers because it could hurt the sales of some newest works of their friends.

I think we need add this to TF terms: ” If you submit a very nice template that could hurt the sales of the most recent items, especially if they were from friends’ of the reviewers, the reviewer has the permission to reject your template with any excuse, even with “I don’t like it”, any objection from author’s part would be either ignored, or to be replied with even more clear statements, like ” No one buys it, did anyone buy your mpONE? see we are right, you’re wrong, and we don’t need meta description and meta keywords, by the way WP is sacred. “

I’m smiling.

@0703:

It’s a blog theme and that “portfolio” is just a name, a word, not more. Note that most blogs rarely use pages. at most it’s 1 or 2, for the “about me” and\or “contact me” pages, at least this’s what I see all around, and say “blog”s are so.

And the typography, well, yeah I can create a typography demo page, good idea, but the comments are ok IMHO , at least this’s not why they rejected my theme.

@jcws649: Thanks, “text-align: justified” is your answer.

Hey Jeff,

Saw my theme? yeah? Tell me, in details, what’s wrong with the “padding \spacing”, and “typography”.

Honesty I need.

Seems that I was so angry and didn’t ask the question at all, the question is that, “How would you like it if the same happens to you?” I mean under the same circumstances, and clearly you conclude what I did.

Hi every,

I’ve 1 question, I’m going to email this to Collis too, I want everybody to know this.

Sometimes, your WP theme could be rejected, simply because it’s “too soon” to be accepted!, I mean it could lessen the sales of some of the most recent WP themes.

I’ve submitted my mpFOUR, some days ago, I guess 5 days ago. Kailoon rejected it, because:

1. This is quite simple so you need to make sure everything is in right place, precisely. 2. The both widgets need improvements. They are messy. 3. You also need to improve the typography and content spacing. 4. The overall design also need some improvements.

I added some more stuffs to the themes, revised some parts, and resubmitted, I’ve also wrote a message for the reviewer asking for “soft-rejection” as I did all was needed, and guess what, this time, Jarel Remick, rejected it, because:

1) Several elements need padding/spacing adjustments through the template. 2) Overall template typography needs additional refinements and improvements. 3) Compatibility in all major browsers is required including IE6 . This theme appears to have some issues in IE6 . Please double check compatibility with all major browsers including IE6 before resubmitting.

Take a look at my mp4

Let’s be honest, “padding & spacing” is all up to the author and the idea s\he has about his\her work, furthermore, my mp4 is all fine and dandy as per “padding and spacing” (it’s also ok with IE6 as far as I see in the IE Tester.)

“typography”, guys tell me something, who’s the designer? designers or reviewers? Ok, ok, ok, isn’t it better to let reviewers design and we sit back relax and watch?

As far as I see, we authors are not supposed to have control over “padding, spacing, and typography” ! , and what else?

Anyway, my mp4 has a bad typography? says who? look at the Collis’s blog, and the TF blog, and the Creattica, all have crazy typographies? mine is no different, then either we are ok or we are crazy, huh? I’m not going to name, but you can find tens, if not hundreds, of the items here with odd font sizes, and odd fonts, so what’s the story? the real story, everything behind all these “execuses” what’s that?

Let me tell you this, I’m new here, I’m not buddybuddy with the reviewers, but the most recent WP themes, are from some chaps who’re reviewers’ friends for quite some time.

So? what happens, when a new player wants to come in, they “reject” it! until when those “friends” sell enough, and show the “green light”.

Hahahaha, someone tell me I’m wrong and make me happy, pleasssse.
