Well done, looks a million times better!

My only remaining gripe, from a strictly personal perspective, would be the center aligned text pyramid of skills at the bottom. If you need a bit of peeking, take a look at the graphic river link below and see how you can present skills in a more visually appealing way.

Some of my thoughts. Don’t mind the humor – not to insult your work, just to keep it light. Besides, I’m no expert like some of the superstars here.

I probably should have been more explicit: I was expecting photographic criticism only. That photo will not be going to the marketplace anyways.

I’ve never had a go with taking photos, and so today was a start. Any tips for improvement? Especially related to the composition (or framing, as I think its called?)

One common feedback I received was that it’s majorly over processed – point noted.

And I’m extremely nervous. Things here in India are insanely competitive, and getting through the exam + interview process was only half the story. Now I have to survive two years of gruel, to put it mildly. The course starts with exams, ends with exams, and has exams in between: everyday I think. From what I’ve heard, students in these programs won’t sleep much of the first year: I’m talking about the brighter ones – and I’m only average.

The institute is called Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. (Calcutta is the city where it’s at).

I’m trying to meditate to calm myself, and keeping the six figure dollar salary in focus. Wish me luck, I’ll need it.

Gadgets, lots of toilet paper and some lethal equipment for violent situations.

Sometime back:

“This is tasteless. We need more Oomph! Where is the wow factor? We need to engage the user into an awesome experience! Like, when they arrive at our website, things should happen! Open and close their CD trays, turn their keyboard lights on and off, play some music…heck mess with their room lights if possible! You feel what I’m sayin?”

Another one:

“Don’t give me that crap bub, I’ve been surfing the web since the 80’s”. (Date of birth of client as I found out: 11.04.1987)

Latest from an European client of mine:

“It’s all fine, but I want the page to automatically print without any confirmation etc. Like, user loads page and simply receives a message: “Surprise for you at the printer, GO CHECK !”.”

Indian Client (Delhi based):

Client: “No, when the user clicks the link, the video has to be played in the desktop version of VLC media player”.
Me: “VLC cannot be invoked like that. Besides, flash easily accomplishes what you intend here”
Client: “No dude, it has to be in VLC ”
Me: “Why is that?”
Client: “Because EVERYONE has it, man do you keep up with trends or what?”

Extremely Well Done!

Considering the fact the effort is effort, I wouldn’t ask for a refund. Besides, fixing the mess took around 4 hours of effort. So I have a clean slate now.

And I don’t think I should name the service here. That’ll be doing them a disservice because they may well have very good coders, one of whom was not allocated for my PSDs unfortunately.

But this was my first experience. From now on, I’ll write a detailed spec regarding code quality, and how I want it. If they’re going to advertise things like seo optimized, top notch hand coded markup, I might as well show them what exactly that looks like.
