Oh yeah, I forgot to say I have talked to him. He says it’s just a misunderstanding and tries to brush it off.

I’ve never publicly accused people of copying my designs before. To be honest I’ve thought it’s the wrong way to go. So I agree with you guys, this thread was probably a bad idea. I just got kinda caught up in the astonishment of finding this and the response he gave when I emailed him. My bad. Mods can delete this right away.

Hello, He did probably copied/ inspired on your items. You could report it to support and let them handle it. I am not sure if it would have an effect since he has only copied the message box and there are many other items there since he makes a big pack of items using old items in an attempt to sell more. About the icons, the style looks familiar but not all of the icons are copied, just the one of the box, the display and the note pad.

I only mean the package icon, not the other ones. It just brought that one up because it lead me to find his other file.

instead to point the finger at someone on the forum, you should consider to contact the support and talk about the issue with more kindness, since we don’t know if actually you’re telling the truth about who is the original designer.

“this is a design on mine, he copied me!” its no more a credible thing to say in the world of social networks and showing us the links of your designs can’t help. morover, the only ones who can really do something about are the site managers, not the users.

I know pointing the finger won’t have much effect on the business of copying designs and that they won’t remove the item because of this post. So I have of course contacted support as well. I’m not asking you guys to do anything about it. I get copied a lot and I usually don’t bother reporting it. I only shared this because I think it’s so ridiculous and laugh-provoking.

Regarding determining whether or not it’s my design or his in the first place; you can look at the time they were posted on the Dribbble shots and GR submission.

It’s been a while since I last was active on GR. A lot has happened with the place!

Now to the topic…

Yesterday, I saw [removed] and thought that package icon looked kind of familiar. Now look at [removed], which is a set of icons I’m designing and sharing the process on Dribbble. I thought I might just be paranoid, but several others on Twitter said it was a rip (a bad one) as well.

So I looked up the guy’s [removed] on Dribbble and saw that he linked to files he had designed and is selling here on GraphicRiver. To my astonishment I found [removed]. Now compare that message box to [removed]. See some similarities? I mean he could’ve at least TRIED to make his own designs? No, he just copies my designs straight away.

The user is [removed] here on the marketplaces.

Now, I’m usually not the one to go all big and green like the Hulk because someone copies my design. It happens all the time with my Simpla Admin template on ThemeForest. But this one was just such a blatant rip-off that I thought I would share it with you guys. I’ve emailed him a link to this thread so he could chime in and maybe express his view on this. It could be interesting.

I don’t get it. There are no tutorials that tells you how to design an avatar. An avatar is just an image; you can create absolutely anything.

I don’t want to sound arrogant, but you want to design and sell designs here at TF, and you don’t know how to crop an image?

I actually recommend that you use them. The site works without them, but people with newer browsers can enjoy the enhanced visuals. That’s what progressive enhancement is all about.

As Keliah said, put them in a separate stylesheet, because some people will want their site to be completely valid.

Yeah, I understand there’s no pint slicing up what is ultimately recreated in CSS but look at some of the posts here where the people are duplicating layers, recropping, etc..what a long-winded way about it. I still think a sliced PSD is easier to work with, maybe that’s my preference but I honestly can’t see an easier way around it.

Let’s say you had an image like this in the file:

Let’s say this image is part of a slideshow with set dimensions, I would need to crop and cut this image to those dimensions if the PSD was not sliced=time. If it were in a sliced PSD I just save it.

In that example, I think you’re right.

With my ways, perfect pixel accuracy is rarely needed because most elements are kept in the flow. But in cases like the one you showed, a slice is probably for the best. I’ll remember that.
