Imagine you want to give PD a try, you think you can develop nice stuff, but not in such quantity, let’s say, 20 or 30 quality images, initally, to test success-errors. Would you expend the time creating the stuff considering the current market situation? Because except the time your images will be on recents, it will be almost impossible that any user will find them inside the huge quantity of similar stuff. I bet you on one thing: try to locate my images (or any other from authors having like 20 or 30 items), not going through the authors profile.

I would have more of a gradual decline in prizes. For example, don’t make the awesomeness of first place eclipse second, third, and fourth. Personally, if the first place prize is an iPad, I know ton of other people will be trying very hard… On the other hand, if first, second, and third all get iTouches, and first gets an additional $200, second gets $100, I know I would try a lot harder, thinking I could maybe get at least third place.
