I wonder if it’s possible to upload a track to the regular music categories and at the same make it available in multitrack format in the source files section. So if the buyer only wants the full mix they will buy the normal track and if they want it in multitrack format they will be able to buy it in the source files section at a higher price.
I think this would help authors maximize their revenue and give the buyers the option to remix the track if they wish so.
As far as I understand the new standard license covers any type of use (free, paid, or broadcast) on a limited ground. The second tier license only removes the copy limit of the standard one. I think it sounds like too much coverage for a $18 license and too less for a $90 one.
10.000 copies limit of the standard license would probably cover 95% of the buyers here as they are usually start up app and game developers. So this kind of makes the second tier license redundant. It would be ideal if the standard license didn’t cover any broadcast use at all, giving people a reason the buy the second tier license.
Moving on to the broadcast licenses. A lot of countries in Europe have less than or around 10 million population which makes their national TVs always fall under the 3rd tier license. They would never have to buy the 4th tier license for national broadcasts. Moreover, the standard license (1 million audience) would probably cover their smaller local TVs! I don’t know if you guys thought about that when you came up with these numbers.
My suggestion is something like this:
- Tier 1: No broadcast.
- Tier 2: Up to 1 million audience.
- Tier 3: Up to 5 million audience.
- Tier 4: Unlimited broadcast audience.
Great news, I might give this one a go although I’m not very experienced in orchestral music. But I would like all AJ authors to have a vote since participating authors may not be willing to vote for their competitors!

I wonder why people bother with this when its possible to gain the top spot in the search just by using the tags like inspire, inspired, inspiring, inspiration, inspirational all at once!
July was my worst month in 2014 but it’s still nice to earn some cash while you are on vacation Hoping for a better August for everyone!
This new homepage must be an example of “thinking inside the box”. It’s basically the same design with a new layout! I would expect a brand new design. Here are my critics:
1) I don’t like the giant search field, envato is not a search engine! If you want to emphasize the search you could make it bigger and bolder and still keep it inside the header.
2) You could use that giant space in the middle for a slider like every other website do and use it for promotions like “happy (elite author) day”, “ultimate … bundle”, “envato’s most wanted”, etc. When you have to advertise something, you would use this space instead of popping up that thing at the top.
3) Old page elements shouldn’t be binding for the new design because they don’t respond to the growing marketplace needs anymore. For instance, I would get rid of the “featured items” and focus on promoting through “featured collections” so that a bunch of authors benefit from the exposure instead of a single person and the buyers would have more alternatives to choose from.
I mean if you want to promote an extreme action track then create an “extreme action” collection and promote a bunch of tracks instead of a single one! (I’m talking about small hand-picked albums, not 10 pages of random items).
4) Contrary to the common opinion, I don’t think new items should be on the homepage at all. Nobody puts random items on their front page, plus 3 hours of out-of-context exposure doesn’t mean anything from the author’s perspective.
