And i do not know how you price some themes that cannot do anything. Just like free themes. Change a color or two and the layout is exactly the same. So why the 40$ price tag? For what?

I’m also wondering the same thing about 40$ price for a specific theme!

10 days ago in thread perhaps a little too much ?

...

Although I think my latest theme might simply not be appealing to customers, it was really a shock when it vanished from the homepage after just 2 days. Thats a very very small exposure time and barely enough to end up at the popular items section. Looking at the list of previous approved items I see quite a few gems that with a little more time on the front would have easily made the popular items section but now probably wont.

So for now, a quality requirement increase might fix that problem but in the long run I am not sure if the current homepage concept will work out well.

Its a little like back in the days when codecanyon didn’t exist, only that nowadays tons of html themes flood the marketplace…

I feel very similar to Kriesi on this. I often see themes that are quite nice but just off the mark. With small changes they could be exceptional. I’m not sure if changing the quality requirement would make a difference. It’s possible this is a skill or experience issue.

I think it’s good we’re discussing it. There may be a solution we’re not seeing yet. My goal isn’t to push out competition with higher standards. Some of the top selling authors of 2011 weren’t even part of the marketplace in 2010 so there’s plenty of room for new authors. However, I am getting very tired of the copycat activity. If there was one area of the standards I would like to see improved most, this would be it.

You don’t need to buy as an author, they have a certification program http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/

@stmcan I found a site that I think is very surprising because almost all the themes from all the existing WordPress theme marketplaces provided by this site to download for free. I think we have to do something to this one.

Can you please send me PM!

Hi Everyone,

I really appreciate for this thread!

I want to share the details of the story with you. I’ve found a web site that has a good location on google search results, it’s been directly sharing our files and hosted by godady. Sent a DMCA and the site is suspended now!

I’d like to share my methods with you;

If you found a web site that directly shares your files from it’s own server space, you need to find it’s hosting first to send your DMCA . To do that; - go to http://www.iptools.com/ or a similar one - use “Resolve Host” tool - then use Whois Lookup (IP) tool - When you find the network name or hosting provider domain name - use “Abuse Contact Lookup” form to find the abuse contact address of the service provider

If you found your file on a download site; They usually hide their abuse contact address and wants you fill a DMCA form. Visit the web site and find the form, it might be in contact, abuse, dmca, support etc.

If you think the warez site that you found, generates income from google AdSense, use this form to report google https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=violation_report&rd=2 They usually reply back in about 10 days.

Windows users are lucky because they have freshkiller http://killer.freshface.cz/ thanks to freshface

Here is the format I use, have copied from the freshkiller and sending by manually for each link Download .DOC file

Envato’s article about DMCA http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Live/Knowledgebase/Article/View/114/0/how-do-i-claim-infringement-of-my-copyright-lodging-a-dmca-notice

Any additions, corrections are highly appreciated!

Please just keep fighting!

About timthumb, is it so bad to use it? What would be the best solution to resize an image uploaded via optiontree?
It seemed fine to use it for our themes. But it’s a resource hungry script and it give us a lot of support requests. We ditched it in our new theme. Forget about it. I did not use optionthree but i think that add_image_size function works just fine with any uploaded file inside wordpress.

forget the timthumb! I’m removing from all my themes by one by. timthumb = too many support request
