Regarding the joining all marketplaces under the same roof: it has been pointed out so many times in the past that this simply won’t work for much longer. Different marketplaces all have different needs, different sets of features, etc.
For example, lately almost every change was directed mainly towards the “milking cow” known as ThemeForest. For example, all the fuss about comments and tools for providing the (non-obligatory) support. Author’s dashboard page is organized with focus on comments. Therefore my author’s dashboard – and I believe it’s the same with the majority of authors – is EMPTY 95% of the time. For somebody who uploads more files, all of the important info is in the tiny right-side column, while all the space in the main column is completely unoccupied.
And this is just one of many examples…
Must admit, I dont think they have thought thru the analytics.
The new menu will generate tons more clicks.Cos no one knows which f$# ^x%x $g site they are on !!!!
I am curious about the analytics as well.
First, as Australia pointed out, it’s more easy to click there by mistake.
Secondly, now is the pre-Christmas season, very well known for sales boost (so, probably also the boost of clicks/visits). Wouldn’t this also influence the analytics?
I’ve also experienced problems in the past 2-3 weeks, with files larger than 300mb. Their upload would get stuck, yet all other (smaller) files got uploaded without a problem. I thought it was something on my end, but I’m not sure now. Using FileZilla, btw
So far the experience has been good.
1. How would you layout the logos on the header if there is a new marketplace to be born ?2. Should there be a place in the header for Microlancer ?
1. I guess there are no plans for new marketplaces (they even shut down one marketplace a while ago.
2. Oh, god, no! Don’t give them ideas!
I have a few ‘big’ things in my life: supportive family, good friends, great girlfriend and the awesome opportunity to learn, earn and creatively express myself here on Envato marketplaces; and I also get to enjoy some small things that fill in the “gaps”. I consider myself a very happy man and that’s what I’m thankful for.
What I would love to see next is the category filter working on portfolio pages, too. Not only on the main site. I.e. when users come to my portfolio, they can see only motion graphic files if they want to. This would encourage me to upload way more motion graphics without being afraid that nobody finds my after effects projects anymore.
I’ve been asking for exactly the same thing for so many months and still we see nothing of it.
