I’ve always thought that Envato should keep ALL items donwload zips available for those ones who purchased them, no matter if the author removes the frontend links. Customer can deal with missing authors (regarding support) but is stupid that you can’t access zip files you have purchased.
I agree

virplay saidWhat did Envato say? I believe there must be a solution. Also, have you tried contacting the author? Some of the authors here are cool.
I know I lost my money, for items bought in the last 4 o 5 months. In the next future I will think twice to buy an item here. Their policy = my decision
I will ask, thx

Go ask for a quote for a full website, you may notice a price of $5,000 – $20,000. And yes, for that price, I’ll give you a 5 years guarantee as well. Later edit: If that theme has bugs or isn’t working properly, it wouldn’t have been published on ThemeForest.

virplay saidYou paid $40 for a full blown theme and you find the right to complain and ask for lifetime updates? Make a contract with a company for a lifetime support and theme development and enjoy the bill.
So we buy a theme to use it just for 4 months? Cause in next WP version wont work? Have no meaning, sorry.
And what about if the theme have bugs? or need updates because mal functioning…. what do you do? Eat your $?

No i would not buy it if I knew that the author would not be updating but in fairness to authors they are not obliged to do it, circumstances may change and force them not to be able to do it, Envato does not require it and I would bet that the vast majority of buyers do not ask the question before buying – many of them are too inexperienced to even consider it.
At the end of the day while you have a valid point and you would hope that most authors will update themes the bottom line is that if they choose to or not buyers have no right to request a refund according the the terms and conditions under which they bought the file, as long as it worked on WP version whatever was the latest at that time.
Any way, the point is that I have the feeling I throw my $120, cause I can´t use the themes I bought
