If your modeling program supports scripting, you could try making a script with a loop that instances your object and changes its coordinates accordingly.
However, I might have not understood you correctly. More details could help.
Hey kaghazak !
While there are no defined limits to scene polygon counts, the actual polycount level depends on the platform you’re pushing the content for. Example PCs can handle hundreds of thousands of (untesselated) polygons, but mobile platforms (in the current generation) on average support a few tens of thousands of polygons.
With that in mind you should not really be worried about how many TOTAL polygons there are, but instead be more worried how many polygons are visible in your camera frame at any time. This is because your camera will let the GPU process only what is not culled. There is backface culling, frustum culling, etc. And it will prevent you from processing unnecessary model/lighting/shader/animation information.
So it’s actually a matter of trial and error until you reach the perfect compromise.
I definitely agree that there should be a revamp of prices on 3docean. Lets just compare two models of the same product in here – one is perfectly crafted, made 100% measure-correct, beautifully rendered, etc. and the other is mediocre at best – yet they are priced the same on this marketplace (for comparison, 15$ for phones). This simply cannot be.
Hello Envato !
It seems I have been away for quite some time, so many things have changed !
Now, It might be a redundant question, but today I have noticed a “This item may not be property released.” bar on my item page. It has a link leading to an empty FAQ page.
Good people can you please explain to me what this is ?
Thank you !!
plus, I still think we do not have enough assets here (in general), nor do we have a variety that can satisfy most buyer’s needs.
Example, take a look at TF3Dm. They were able to somehow attract a crowd of people to start posting assets for FREE, even though many, if not most, of the items there are ports from actual videogames, still, they were somehow able to attract a large working community. This might be different for 3dO since we really try to push guidelines, but the idea of attracting a workforce to the marketplace should be a priority.
Conspiracy talk: I think envato should bribe one or two of turbosquid’s top authors of all time and let them share their premium “marketplace perks” like buyer top keyword searches, etc.
Now jokes aside, I believe we (the authors) really should try do some data mining on stock CG assets search queries.
So far what envato has established here, is a stock CG marketplace with very competitive prices. Now I know that we might not be as satisfied with the prices, but I also believe that 3dO’s lower prices should be used as a selling point. Something like, “don’t waste 1k on a stock asset, buy it on 3dO for just 49$”. We have an ace in the sleeve in that regard.
Now when we start seeing a rise in momentum of buyers, we (as authors) should start preaching how to increase the quality of our (and everybody else’s) assets. And this will just boost the reputation of 3dO, and will help maintain customer flow.
Cheers guys !
Bam ! Yes,I’ve hit my 500th sale today(after quite a long run), i’d like to thank all the buyers and the community for being so awesome, and for all the support ! You guys rock !
^ What the guys said. Do not OC if it’s your money-maker.
Now a bit of technicalities, the real speed punch is very much affected by the amount of L3 cache you have on your CPU, let me now throw some numbers to illustrate.
An i7 with 8MB L3 cache OC @4.6 GHz can handle/deliver significantly less than an i7 with 12MB L3 cache @3.9 GHz. You really won’t notice the rendering speed boost in the OC version, and will end up having a (maybe) unstable CPU.
My 2 cents, invest in more CPU cache than GHz (CPUs with more cache are a tad more expensive)
Good luck !!
