some suggestion: - the black icon on the grid might need to be more subtle - IMO the black color at some part is too thick, giving too much contrast with the surrounding color - the body backgruond could used some subtle texture too - a mega menu maybe? - unlimited color choice might add something to the uniqueness
@billyf: thank for the suggestions bro… I was almost desperate with that theme and planning start it over create the new one... and you tell me that I should continue to polish… i’ll rock it out then
@weblanzarote: I don’t think the reviewers are also sellers. The reviewers seems to be already too busy with their job reviewing our items
@BittLoader: I learned that being hard rejected like that means that we need to enhance our theme on ALL aspects dude… anybody here have a guide on how to face hard rejection well?
@nahid29: “Never ever give uP!!!!!!” Yoshhh!!!
@arrowsuites: I agree, it’s quite hard to face thehard rejection coz we don’t really know what need to be improved. I guess this is why this forum rocks
@manuelvega: good luck on your 6th attempt friends
I just got hard rejected for the second time for my first magento theme. This is the demo site:
I read many resources on the envato site about the reviewing process. Until I find this article: http://notes.envato.com/authors/the-most-common-issues-with-rejected-files/
I was struck by the very first reason on that article: “The overall presentation is generic”. I just realized that my theme is indeed too generic. The slider, the scroller and all.
I start to think that I should just leave this theme and start a new one. I’m planning to just release this theme for free.
But before, I need second opinion from you guys. Do you think there’s a chance for my theme to get approved after some more improvement. Or do you agree about the too-generic-concept things, and I should just work on another one?
1. It all depends on the improvements you bring, and honestly, if your file is ready or not! I’ve been rejected for one file ( this happened over on ActiveDen ) about 17 times before it got approved! The trick is, I didn’t give up!
Whoaa… 17 times rejections for one file! now that’s definitely a hit for some guys out there who got mad and desperate after just a few (one or two?) rejections
Thanks for all the links you supplied anyway
Still hoping for more sharing from other member (doesn’t matter you’re senior or junior or newbie or whatever… sharing always good )
Hi all, I am a newbie here… just trying out to submit my first magento theme. It has been rejected twice. But I’m still workin on it
I admit it drive me crazy at first. But later after I read many threads on this forum, I see that there are many other guy just like me who got rejected even a lot more. Some feel desperate and decide not to continue, but some others seems to be persistent enough to make his way around this marketplace.
I also see quite many soon-to-be authors which get angry with the rejection. They curse the reviewer for not giving any pointers to help them, they curse the the whole reviewing system, I even see some guys who curse other accepted item for not being as good as theirs
Well, I dedicated this thread for those who got emotional with their rejection.
Please share your experience on the rejection
- How many rejection before your item finally get accepted? once, twice or even… none?
- What you did to overcome the rejection?
- Did you just polish your item here and there?
- Or did you just simply leave it out and start over with a new (hopefully) better item?
This kind of sharing will help me (and I’m pretty sure all the newbie authors out there) a lot. It will add us some more motivation to go through all the reviewing process. And hopefully, this will also help all the guys who eventually got mad with the rejection, to face those rejection more calmly and react to the rejection in a more positive ways.
very nice to read some good news like this… congrats bro
wanna give a little feedback for some element like comment forms, image placement etc. But not sure if it’s the part which are “in-progress”
Same here dude… Just upload my first theme and get hard rejected with no detailed explanation. I think we should just take this hard rejection in a more positive ways. I see many other guy on this forum said that they need to re-upload their theme (after improvements) 5-10 times before it finally gets approved.
Thanks FinalDestiny, about the “featured products may be used in a 2000” things, is it the featured product scroller on the frontpage you’re referring to? and the slider, is it the main banner slider (based on nivoslider) on the frontpage? any advice how can I improve those slider and scroller?
@Crakken & @edumicro: hoho… kinda surprised many of you don’t like that rainbow lines. Coz I think it looks fine… anyway, maybe it means I have to increase my design taste
Actually that rainbow could easily be customized via admin module into any other gradient variation. What do you think guys? should I just change the default gradient for the demo site into any other gradient scheme (any advice for great gradient scheme?) or should I just totally rework my whole theme?
@edumicro: thanks for the short and truth answer really, I like hard critics, make me thinks a lot. can you please elaborate more about the suckiness of my theme?
@rktic: whoaaa…. you’re the best rktic, thanks a lot for all the feedback. I admit there are still a lot of details on my theme that need to be fixed. I’ll work it all out.
