Accept my congratulations too! Good luck to you!
Honestly, I don’t like the track, for many reasons, including those set forth above. I think you should not fight for it. Just my opinion. Good luck.
Wonderful environment to work ! Good luck on your new place!
Very interesting discussion! I am all for the democratization of music, but one point that is missed is that while the large commercial production houses are paying significantly less for music the savings are not necessarily being passed to the creative people in an equitable fashion. It would be great if all the smaller guys could somehow benefit (the theory behind trickle down economics) but in practice this is rarely true. We end up with a smaller piece of the pie divided among a lot more people. In reality the money saved on the music budget goes in someone else’s pocket, someone higher up the food chain, same as it ever was. The inequity is exacerbated by the inability to collect PRO income.
However, this being the way of the world now, I for one am happy to be able to make music and still get paid something for it, for however long it may last!
I don’t think this is a problem only of our time. Most of the greatest artists, composers, writers, lived in poverty, and recognition to many came many years later. Fee for their work, they considered humiliating and disgraceful. It was always so. Nothing has changed, and we are not unique in this. Apparently, such is the fate of all creative people. One hopes, to be recognized … We have chosen this path. Good topic.
