Did not know under what do I open a ticket so I am posting it here.
Hello all, jut wanted to open a thread about some things that I want to clear.
We all know that support is very grey area special for buyers, meaning what is mandatory and what not.
Now to the question if a client has third party plugins (meaning plugins that did not come wit the theme) and those plugins get updated/changed is it our responsibility to provide a fix/update?
would like to know, since in recent “events” that transpired now, we all know that if you advertise a word “support” on your item description, support is mandatory.
Yes i remember that, would rather not go in that nonsense since it is not part of this post and i don’t want to see it locked.
Actually it is more design skills, since majority of themes here allows you to import demo content, then all you have to do choose the page that you like change text and images and your up and running really fast, now when customising starts that takes some time. but basically you do not need coding and in most cases support is great.
Those examples are what people did, but you can do anything you want depends on your skills.
Well… guys come on support is not obligatory i guess that why envato does not adres any attention on it.
Virtuti .. was a long time Always have been fan of your work and your posts.
I do agree, this utopia would be perfect, why do i say utopia? Because that it is, sadly. The point is that people in most cases do not know what they want. In most cases people get a project for a “Ultimate Apple Cutter” and they go and look an out of the box product.
Now that would be great, but well no… even if there were 1000 people that need that eventually it stops, support on the other hand does not.
Once themeforest for example becomes your full time bread, you have to calculate the risk, and i can guarantee that there is something similar for your niche on the market but you cannot find it, can you honestly tell me people go browsing trough the whole market, i don’t think so.
This has become the ultimate fight for exposure and fight to get on most popular and among all those niche themes how many got on the top? If people are so sick and tired of those multi-purpose themes why are there the top ones like that?
This is a business so when Supply and demand takes effect and you buyers start buying actual niche themes we the authors will shift to them it is that simple.
But for that the market itself needs to evolve technically in current state it does not support it.
I constantly stated that envato should consider making an multi-purpose category separately with its own way bigger price range. Until this is done sorry to say people will rather buy a Swiss knife.
If you can get an car, motorbike and a bicycle for the $55 why would you want to buy just a bicycle for $45?
+1 very nicely put! People all to get forget that mostly this is not out of the box business and once they get additional requests from clients they start to ride us, so lets me get this strain you buy y theme for $45 you get payed from the client for example $600 and we are suppose to do your clients that you got payed for bidding?
Heh the interesting is that this kind of specific different themes in most cases don’t sell, and if you do it people still demand all the functionalities the big multi-purpose have, this market you mention if it is so big why then this kind of themes never sell. The main problem is that most of clients think we the authors are some kind of big agencies that sit on pile of money and wait to chat for support and custom job for free for ever.
Sorry to be a bit ruff but have got so unreasonable requests on support and such a rude attitude and extortion that it just got to me.
Once envato implements the advanced search/filtered system maybe things will change, but the multi-purpose themes offer you to build yourself anything you want, from the type of the theme to the colours, font sizes, so i don’t get you, the out of the box themes you want just doesn’t go since then you get 5 sales and 3 of them you have to support all the time (figuratively speaking).
You will need a specific theme that supports RTL, you can check the description page of the item in question or you can always ask the author of the theme you have your eye on.
