other option would be to add action for import_end hook , you can check the meta field that if it is not proper json , add the slashes . Something like this
if( ! is_obj( json_decode($array_str) ) )
 $array_str = addslashes($array_str);
or before generating json change double quotes to single in array. Hope this helps :)

hey Ruben, are you serializing the values ? It happens when you serialize it manually. You can try this, when you save the values encode it into base64.

@FinalDestiny: I agree that it’s our items but it’s against the rules. I may do this on my own website or on my support forum but I can’t advertise it on my ThemeForest item description page. I remember I’ve read it somewhere on knowledge base.
I think it’s allowed mate, a theme in popular themes has been doing since start and I don’t see it removed .. if you were told to remove it , it is not fair. As one theme is openly doing and it has to be fair with everyone. Just my view :)

I’ve found it:

This is the official response that I’ve got:

Unfortunately, authors may not offer free or bonus items or services outside of the main download package on the Marketplaces, nor promote free items or services anywhere on the Marketplaces.

And here is the article on knowledgebase:

http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/222 If you’ve found something like this on the pops, may be you should report it to support ;)

both are different in kb it mentions we cannot distribute our items for free , it doesnt mention anything related to services.. either you had a free item I think or you should ask for clarification since it costed you money mate .. imo support is also a free service :P

xml import is best for importing pages and posts, there are problems when you try to insert using database options, when you save sql dump in a file , if there are extra characters present it won’t work and manipulating core tables is not recommended ;) . Best way is to export as encoded text even serialized string wont work if there is a new line.
Nobody spoke about using SQL dump or SQL instructions… I think that it is not even allowed as you can see here: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/472/85/wordpress-theme-submission-requirements . At a certain point you have this rule: The database shouldn’t be accessed or modified directly. If there is a defined function that can get the data you need, that must be used instead. Use $wpdb and its methods to interface with the database instead of rolling your own.

So, as an example, here’s how I add a page:

$new_page_title = 'About Us';
$new_page_content = 'This is the page content';
$new_page = array(
'post_type' => 'page',
'post_title' => $new_page_title,
'post_content' => $new_page_content,
'post_status' => 'publish'
);
$new_page_id = wp_insert_post($new_page);

Pretty simple, huh?

yeah I use that too for my express installer .. but its not usable for replicating demo as it … just my opinion :)
