Well after all is said and done, it would be very nice to think that ALL authors would simply opt out. This way we stand together. Every single item would then state no support, no one would be different in anyway. It would send a very strong message to Envato, especially if they are not earning a single cent from this silly idea. I know…. it’s a pipe dream.
I would support this and also notice to clients that I provide support on my own terms and only my own available time.

Same here, we’re supporting our items the way we seem fit on our own platform like where doing for as long as we’re here.

I’m a top buyer, for 7+ years (since early flashden days) and guarantee I’ll spend a lot less here if some money-grubbing paid support plan is implemented. Period.

I haven’t seen a Single buyer say they want this. It’s going to kill your sales. I’m one of the ‘net’s topselling people in my niche, I would never do this to my customers. In fact I do the opposite, with a customer rewards/loyalty program w/bonuses to give my top buyers.

Trying to now start charging for what has always been included will piss off us buyers, and we go elsewhere. In this economy, adding costs…really? Epic fail, just say no. Let’s focus on things that get buyers to Like you and buy more. Not alienate us and try to nickel-and-dime rip us off. You have competitors.

Also if you do this, buyers have less budget for buying from more authors, so everyone’s sales go Down. And the ‘problem buyers’ will become more demanding with unreasonable new support requests since they paid for it…it’ll magnify the problem of those who demand customization etc included…and a lot of confusion.

This is an epic nightmare in the making for authors, and unwanted cost for buyers.

A better SOLUTION is to simply Communicate specific limits of what support is included vs not, to the buyers. Do a better job of helping authors Optionally sell customization services, for the small percentage of newbie buyers…but don’t FORCE everyone into a one-size-(Doesn’t)-fit-all mandatory support scheme…nobody likes it.

We also have multiple accounts here on themeforest and are with Envato for over 6 years and we want to decide ourselves when and how we’re going offer support. They already enforced us Price raises, taxes etc. Now another sales drop implementation. We and as many other authors offer outstanding support through their own support channels.

We and our buyers DON’T need this.

Hi, You can find a theme and have customization to add this , since it requires a subscription plugin which are mostly paid it will be difficult to get what you want right out of the box.
PS we have a fitness theme, you can check it out :D

other option would be to add action for import_end hook , you can check the meta field that if it is not proper json , add the slashes . Something like this
if( ! is_obj( json_decode($array_str) ) )
 $array_str = addslashes($array_str);
or before generating json change double quotes to single in array. Hope this helps :)

hey Ruben, are you serializing the values ? It happens when you serialize it manually. You can try this, when you save the values encode it into base64.

I think it’s allowed mate, a theme in popular themes has been doing since start and I don’t see it removed .. if you were told to remove it , it is not fair. As one theme is openly doing and it has to be fair with everyone. Just my view :)

both are different in kb it mentions we cannot distribute our items for free , it doesnt mention anything related to services.. either you had a free item I think or you should ask for clarification since it costed you money mate .. imo support is also a free service :P
