Since we’re using these pictures for commercial purposes it’s always risky since in case of a copyright claim, you dont have a written license. So to be on the safe side and avoiding having to redesign any track or profile art, I use only Photodune pics.
I really agree that the search there is ….well frankly a pain in the arse, one cant say it in any other way. Which is a shame because there are plenty of great items for a unbeatable price well hidden….. (sounds familiar, right?!? )
I also constantly look for free promotion items on various other RFM marketplaces. If you do that for a few months you will have a little library to chose from.
When Reason came out in 2001 (?) I was blown away. First it sounded great, was easy on CPU (we’re talking less than 1 GHz single core way slower than today’s smartphones!) and stable as hell. I used it via ReWire with Cubase and it was THE dream combination for me.
After my 6 year musical break I was surprised to see Reason finally had developed into a fully fledged DAW. But in the meantime I had discovered and fell in love with Studio One. Half a year after I started producing with Studio One I remembered my “Dream Connection” from the past and bought Reason Essentials for a start to use via Rewire with Studio One.
Long story short: For use as my main DAW I find Reason much too complicated and confusing compared to how I work with Studio One in the meantime. So I use it as kind of a ‘Deluxe VST Instrument’ and ‘playground’ from time to time and for such it is great and I still like it.
Like some already said here, it really depends on the material. I remember pretty much following (like so often) our valued member Gareth Coker’s advice last year when the same question arose for me and I hadnt money to invest into a real expensive reverb.
The reverbs that come with my DAW Presonus Studio One aren’t bad at all. I also found some great free reverbs that I used a lot. (like Variety Of Sound’s EpicVerb for example).
Then it came to a point where I needed a ‘bread and butter’ reverb and following Gareth’ advice I purchased CSR in a IK MM sale last year. I think I got it for only $49 dollars or so which is really great.
Since there’s no 64bit version and the bridged version stopped working with Studio One some time ago for unknown reasons I had to look for a substitution and I came across the Valhalla Vinatage Verb and I’m really happy with this one as my ‘bread and butter’ reverb.
When I want a real ‘expensive’ sounding reverb, I usually chose the free Reverbarate with some great Bricasti or Lexicon convolution responses you can find on the web.
There’s also the “Best Service has Halls of Fame Origami edition” for free. It sounds great but I dont like the huge GUI and it’s very CPU heavy. But great on solo piano for example.
Again, for my taste, Valhalla VintageVerb is a nobrainer and it’s got three ‘colours’ or modes, 70s, 80s or contemporary which all sound great and there are a lot of good presets I use all the time.
Still saving money and waiting for a sale of 2C Aether, which, of course Gareth dipped my nose in
Congrats, dude to the well deserved item feature. Dont worry, sales will roll in, nothing can go wrong with a happy clappy song featured in the jungle
Yep, really nice to see that AJ also takes care about their Non Exclusives
Have a good week…. or 4 weeks
Mixed results here, things seem to even out somehow, some sites dropped dramatically while I see more sales on others. As AJ is concerned, a noticable drop on my main account, while my other accounts are going up a bit.
Haha, awesome, havent seen it yet, thanks for posting!
Wow, so nice, Josh! Congrats!
Very nice idea. Looks awesome!
Congrats Luca to your silver paw. Let’s keep fingers crossed that the new search engine will benefit everybody in the long run, customers, authors and the marketplace community as a whole.
Congratulations, MP, this is a really awesome achievement!!
