Thanks guys for your contributions, some really interesting thoughts here.
I just wanna say that I would not like this thread mix up several things.
I started this thread , a little too emotional maybe due to a litlle too much red wine ;) , to bring to attention, that there is a fine line of conducting an experiment, which Envato has every right to and which I really think is GOOD, to test out higher prices, and to keep it fair for all marketplace authors.
Like someone pointed out here, I think it is now a time where it is only fair to either include the rest of the marketplace into this experiment, or somehow communicate some interim results as a sign to the rest of the authors.

I understand of course, that in the light of the existing marketplace structure, it even seems as a double reward for the let’s call it popular items exposure.
I like the way the contributions to this thread went so far: It’s not about questioning whether these items belong there or not, they are all high quality items by dedicated and talented authors. It’s about new ideas that have been stated already many times, like a ‘top new items list’ for example, that could be a good counterbalance to the top sellers list, to provide customers with great new items as well as give them the opportunity to go with what videohive authors found to be working great with their items.
Cheers

.... how long does the ‘infantry’ have to watch the weekly top sellers sell their precious items for 20,- while we have to stick with the ‘normal prices’ ? In other words:How long does this ‘experiment’ have to last?!? I dont know how you other authors feel about it, but It seems to me the weekly top sellers haven’t really suffered from the price increse for what seems to be now at least two months, right?!? So what about the rest of us, or did I miss something here?!?? Cheers

PS: Sorry, for the ‘rough’ tone, but am I the only one getting a little bit annoyed by that fact by now?!?

Right, a proper AJ version would have a watermark and it would go like: ‘Please use this song in your next Videohive project’ ;)
