Sorry I cant really help you because I have never worked with svg images… I am even surprised that the example you gave worked. In this case I would say GoDaddy affects the appearance or simply forbids the use of svg.
If you want to use this technique for a Themeforest theme I would recommend you to reconsider your idea. If it does not work for you it won’t for others, too which leads to bad ratings 
That’s not possible, sorry. You have to embed .svg files whether with <embed>, <object>, or <iframe>. You can’t include it directly into your css.
Use .png files instead 
I am not an expert but I think it’s okay as long as you don’t include them in the final download. For preview purposes it’s legal I think. However, you should ask the shutterstock support.
Maybe a bundle full of bundles?
