I say they should just do a blanket price increase for ALL themes right now. I’m not a coder at Envato, but that seems like just a little tweak in the code. If all themes increased an equal amount, then I feel nobody will lose. Then spend effort in the review process to determine the price of new themes.
I think this is a no brainer. A small $5 increase is nothing for almost all buyers… I don’t want to sound like a rich snob, but really, who would complain about $5?! It’s the price of a cheap sandwich! Such a small increase in price has no impact on 99.9% of buyers, yet has a HUGE impact on profits for authors.
It’s also less of an issue for exclusive themes. If a theme were sold here for $5 more than somewhere else, then sure, that could hurt sales. But even if a theme were sold in 2 multiple places, few people would notice that. As Themeforest is the premiere place to shop for themes, I think most people just come here and don’t bother going anywhere else, especially since there is so much to choose from here.
Sure, you could argue that some people buy multiple themes to try out before committing on one. So $5 for each one can add up. But if someone is buying many themes, they can afford a little extra.
I’m sure a $5 increase across the board wouldn’t decrease sales at all. ... The key is that all themes in all categories go up the same relative amount.
I was fortunate enough to get in on the price adjustment tool a few months ago. Sales actually increased, and still months later hasn’t slowed down. I applied to get another increase, but I was too late.
I’d like to know what’s going to happen with the “Price Adjustment” tool for Elite authors. Collis mentioned something better was in the works. Hope that something is still going to happen.
Support should be done in the theme comments, email, or my forum, not here. Ideally in the forum… So please send me an email from my profile page, and I’ll send you forum login details.
I think it’s great! I’m surprised it got rejected. The standards here must now be so incredibly high if this got rejected. I’d definitely keep tweaking it until it get approved.
Music is last in line for me. First it’s Howard Stern in the morning, TWIT podcasts in the afternoon, and after usually I like quite, but if not then some heavy rock/metal!
Sales for me also didn’t decrease after a $5 price increase. I was making about $700 MORE per month on one theme just from the price increase alone! I’d like to increase another $5 to see it’s impact, but now I can’t.
@revaxarts, please post back after you get word on whether or not you could increase the price
I’d like to know also. Maybe the delay is because they’re considering an overall price increase for all themes, which would be cool. Sales wouldn’t suffer for anyone unless a customer chose to buy at a different site instead.
