I am going for a 7m by 3m room with a sound proofed booth at one end. Acoustic platerboard, fibre glass roof, its going to be amazing!
+1. Can’t believe Audio Jungle hasn’t done this already. Soundcloud is such an Audio focussed platform…........... i use it a LOT, and it would be brilliant.
Intergration as well for exclusive authors would be nice, so that when you load a new sound onto Audio Jungle it automatically gets posted to Sound Cloud (the watermarked preview of course!)
I’m doing EXACTLY the same thing this year.
7×3m. One end with a completly sound proofed vocal booth for recording.
Acoustic plasterboard, rockwool insulation. Red dimmable light in the vocal booth for ‘ambience’, skirting boards that are on a hinge that ‘lift’ up so that I can run cables from one end of the studio to the other without it looking messy…

While rules are rules, and yes we all need to set the money to pay out, i don’t understand why Envato don’t allow the authors to set the withdrawel to ‘automatically pay out each month’, and it renews itself each month. Then problems and situations like this would easily be avoided.

I really want to stay away from using sound effects if possible. Otherwise the project will simply be an audio post production / sound design thing, rather than a musical thing. I believe that there are enough instruments, scales, textures and rhythms convey pretty much anything…. i just need to figure out how!

Yes a few people have mentioned that it is pretty much similar to how you would score a film. I have a tonne of ideas so far, but am gathering lots of people’s opinions and thoughts on the matter.
I feel that I should approach it in the same way as you would approach a film score BUT the main problem that I have to overcome is that my audience cannot see anything at all. The visuals are all in their head, so I have to create a score that is a cross between a sound design project, a film score project, and a sound ambience feeling. I need to convey the emotion for each chapter and find a concept. I need to perfectly recreate every scene and chapter into music. I need listeners to know when something key has happened in the book.
As you said, themes for characters and locations is a must. Similar to Peter and the Wolf I guess where he assigned an instrument to a character. This will really help listeners identify what is going on. The main challenge that I have at the moment is –
- How can I get a reader who has never read the book before to understand the story through music.....

I am considering getting a new audio interface so this thread has been really helpful.
I am wondering whether to wait a little while, as surely there are going to be new audio interfaces using the USB 3 .0 spec out at some point?
Would hate to spend 500 quid for a nice fast USB 3 .0 compliant sound card to come out on the market!
