I was forced to use Fireworks when I was working on a 3 month in-house contract and now its my tool of choice (apart from on GR!)

For web layouts Fireworks is much better than PS because:

- Everything is vector, but you still get raster style effects
- You can setup multiple pages
- The font rendering is better
- The layer style systems is much more advanced
- You can apply multiple styles to one layer
- Grouping is much quicker than folders in PS
- You get much more control over gradients.
- masking is much easier.

interesting proof of concept, but the dev process sounds like a nightmare:

just getting sound to work:

The worst of them revolved around audio. It seems that every browser has its own set of irritating quirks related to dynamic audio that we had to stumble our way through. We wound up building an audio manager to resolve these issues that we may clean up and share in the future

and they used Flash a lot anyway:

The game art was created in Illustrator, then animated in Flash Pro. We built a custom AIR tool for exporting SWF animations to a sprite sheet (a grid of animation frames) which helped out tremendously. We also built a super simple AIR app that preps our JS files, runs level 1 of the google compiler on them, and then runs the result through the YUI compressor.

Having different experiences for different browsers (even blocking some entirely) reminds me of the late 90s.

The game does not even work on iOS, fails completely in some browsers, has very average performance and could have been built with AS1 10 years ago anyway.

Really this looks like an advert for NOT using HTML5 for games.

Personally I wouldn’t live in London, oxford or cambridge are much nicer and you could work from home or commute.. up to you though…
how did you come up with oxford & Cambridge!? Bristol, London or Brighton are your best bets for creative jobs.
I said they’re nicer, not that there’s work there :P

I live just outside Cambridge.. i think for just a year visit you would have a lot more fun in London :-)

Guys, stop being a bunch of prudes. Not a single image on AD is pornographic in nature, in fact women look at these images every day in cosmo, vanity fair etc etc. So get over it.

It’s not about being prudish, it’s just common sense. There are lots of workplaces where it would be at best, uncomfortable to view some of the images on here. Why risk losing these important customers ?
