Awesome new feature. Personally I’m not that concerned with the ability to have a 2-way conversation. If you’re selling a quality product, poor ratings will usually happen because the buyer didn’t understand what they were purchasing or didn’t understand how to use it properly, and I’m not sure a conversation changes anything in these cases. But there are certainly instances where an item may have an obscure bug that would never be found without usage feedback, and so having another tool to capture this information is really fantastic
Jack makes a lot of good points, and I agree, RAF gives you so much more flexibility than CSS3. But with regards to performance, in my experience, RAF doesn’t always beat CSS3 in visual performance as well as stress tests in every browser. I think the bottom line is, when you need lots of control, something like GreenSock is going to serve you quite well, but when control isn’t much of an issue, CSS3 is often the better choice.

Don’t forget that customer refunds and sale reversals are two completely separate things. Sale reversals happen when fraud has been committed through paypal.
So when a refund is granted, it doesn’t come across as a “Sale Reversal”? Didn’t know that. But technically the customer could have still been granted a “Sales Reversal” from Paypal, and so the situation I described isn’t all that different. I still want to know who these people are so I can filter their emails to my trash folder.
what about doing something to prevent sale reversals?
There’s too much gray area with this in my opinion. I’d like to see a specific note when I hover over the “i” icon with information that’s related to the actual reversal that took place. Otherwise, I’d like to get an email with the same information. Things I’d like to know:
a) Who the customer is
b) Why a sale reversal was granted
I had one customer who was clearly in over her head complain about one of my more lower-selling items, and then around the same exact time had a “Sale Reversal”. So this leads me to believe a refund was given. But if she got a refund, why does her 1 star rating still remain? And what about her damaging “review” she left in the item comments?
Who knows, maybe she’s still using the item and asking me for support. Got to go check my email
Watched the first 3 seasons of Walking Dead … another show I tried for about 10 minutes before giving up on it, and then eventually gave it another shot because I couldn’t find anything new to watch. Loved it! Also watched the first season of “The Following” which also gets a thumbs up from me.
I’m sure this was mentioned before, but one thing I don’t understand about the new system is why we’ve chosen to automatically hide the ratings breakdown. The whole point of the breakdown was supposed to be to show users that an overall rating that could be considered “bad” could really just be one user spoiling the rating. For example, I’ve just had a rating show up for a recent item. 3 ratings, 3.5 average. But two of the ratings are 5 stars and one is 1 star. So the new half-stars and breakdowns are great, but because we’re hiding the breakdown, we’ve never really fully achieved the overall goal, which was to help new files whose ratings end up ruined by a single user. Maybe we could automatically show the breakdown for the first 10 ratings?

This is the best part of the new hub site. Would be awesome if we could add a huge search like that to the marketplace homepages. It would fit perfectly where the “featured files/free file” row is, and then that content could shift down below the recent items
