Best of luck to those who submitted at the last minute!

Thanks for participating, everybody. It was a pleasure chatting with you all in the forum over the past month :). I look forward to hearing the winners announced and I hope you all sell 10,000 copies of your Unbounce templates!

I got pretty stupid question. But I always have a problem with this.

Could you please announce deadline date in more specific way understandable for Europeans?

In my country we use military time. We don’t use all these AM/PM things. I just would like to be sure. Is this correct or not?:

Sydney (Australia) Wednesday, 12 March 2014, 00:00:00 AEDT UTC+11 hours
Berlin (Germany) Tuesday, 11 March 2014, 14:00:00 CET UTC+1 hour

In my country “midnight” means the end of the day we are talking about. So, midnight is actually 23:59:59 and then we got Thursday 13 March (00:00:00).

It’s so confusing :(

Now I can see 10 March 2014 23:41:00 on my clock and I really know that it is extremely stupid question but do I have ~ 12 hours to go or.. 36?
I asked the exact same question before we started :) I’m afraid I’ll confuse matters even more if I try to figure out what time it ends in your timezone, so let’s just say the contest ends at 23:59:59 on March 12th AEDT.
So, exactly 38 hours to go. Am I right?

Yes, I believe that’s correct.

Thanks a lot @CoreyDilley for taking the time to answer me ! :-)

I think I will let the custom CSS text-shadow (“woh ?! is he suicidal ??” :) lol)... but I’ll comment it out. So, both the end-user and the Envato’s reviewer won’t wince (which is the most important), but at least, if you or the end-user are curious, you could be able to see yourself how the landing “really” render with all its features by simple uncommenting the required lines :-)

However, I’m suddenly in the grip of anxiety…. :-) ==> we talked about text-shadow… but, we are well ok that there are no problem for box-shadow ???? :D

I read no contraindication about box shadow in your guidelines…

No problem! :)

What we suggest for images is that the shadow be a separate element that sits behind the image on the page. That way, when the template’s image is replaced with a new image of the customer’s choosing, the shadow is left behind. If you’re using a shadow on a box that you created in Unbounce, I’d guess that the box and the shadow are already 2 separate elements, so that should be fine.

Hope that helps!

Unfair again, it’s most submitted not most sales, so I’d say it should be split in this case. Also please moderate faster mine submitted 3 days ago and nothing and i know they might be soft-rejected – means like FAIL for me as developer in competition.

Please moderate them faster we would be happy as authors to do even more templates, I don’t know smth is wrong for a last time with moderation process takes too much time.

Unbounce templates are not that advanced they are much more simpler then html or wordpress, Just please….

I’m worried

I think it’s fair as long as everyone knows the rules up-front. It wouldn’t be fair if we were to change the rules after the contest begins.

I believe that templates that were submitted before the contest end-date will still be eligible for prizes if they’re approved, though I understand why it would be nice to get a rejection quickly. I know Envato’s approvals team is working as fast as they can and I’ve reached out to them to confirm that a late approval will not result in anyone missing out on the contest.

Does anyone encountered issues in using links to remote css or js files ?

<link rel=”stylesheet” href=”... and <script src=”...

Indeed, it doesn’t seem to work, and I have to put entire code in Unbounce to make it work, which is not very pretty (especially for big files), I think :-)

I didn’t find anything in FAQ/ressources.

I’ve got a second question (surely the last) for Unbounce team : In guidelines, you advise avoiding text shadows. Ok, I think I understand why you advise this : both to not surprise final user (=> “woh ! where does this shadow come from ??? it didn’t appear in the Unbounce template editor! :O ” ) and also if final user delete a shadowed object and can’t make another one similar.

But…as landing pages are the typical case where any visual trick must be used to optimize readability and visual impact, this guideline is at least…”frustrating” I would say… :S

Is (very moderate) usage of text-shadow really worth of a rejection, especially if we well document this point in our CSS file and our Envato’s documentation file both ?

I’m ready to send template, but I’m waiting for your answser to know if I must delete these effects before sending or not … :-)

Hi @SeeYou Cloud, let me try to answer your questions…

Regarding Javascript, you should include all the javascript in the “scripts” section of Unbounce. It might be a little uglier, but the end-user should have the freedom to tweak the script if they like. With that said, you should also be including your name, contact information and modification instructions (commented out) in case the customer need support, since it’ll be tough for us to troubleshoot your custom javascript.

Regarding text shadows, you’re exactly right that it complicates things for the final user. After discussing internally, we may remove this limitation in the future, where you can include custom CSS if you leave instructions on how to modify and your contact info within the code (commented out). However, my advice for the contest is to avoid it. If we do determine that text shadows are ok, we won’t likely be able to spread the word to everyone on the approval team by the time the contest is up. There’s a good chance you’d still get rejected.

After the contest is over, send me a message and I’ll let you know if we’re now allowing text shadows and other custom CSS to be approved.

Few days left I think reviews should focus on accepting Unbounce templates and in case Soft-rejections help authors to be accepted faster.

Btw imho in case of few last days facebook voting would be not so fair :)

Anyway good luck everyone competition is almost ended only few days. <3

P.S. There is a big bonus for most items published for 1 authors, I see at this moment there is few authors with at least 3 items. What if there will be 2 or more winners with same quantity of unbounce templates? Huh :) Just wondering

Good question! Quoting from the rules (for accuracy’s sake): “In the event of a tie for the “Most items Submitted” prize, the author with the most sales for all Unbounce items at the time of the event close date wins.”

That’s right, but I get the feeling that many get rejected the first time. You might consider posting your template here for feedback before submitting. The Envato community’s been really welcoming and helpful.

Ok, thanks for information. I read all previous pages and posts in Item discussion forum to understand why such or such template is rejected. I think (or at least, i hope) it’s clear in my mind.

Just a question (maybe I dream, I should first try do make one correctly !) : can we submit two template in a same category that inspires us ? :-)

Now, I have to hurry up ! I love handicap race ! ;-)

I’m pretty sure there’s no problem with submitting 2 templates in the same category.

Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you like it :) Hopefully you see some great results out of it, too. Good luck getting your first template in before the deadline.
Thanks for encouragement ! :-) Are we ok : the deadline is about submission, not validation, right ?

Hi ! Even if it’s a bit late, I’m in too. As Pierre de Coubertin said : it’s the taking part that counts ! I hope I could submit one template before deadline ! :-) I discovered Unbounce a week ago. I already talked about it at work, and I think we will use it soon ! Great tool !
