I’m also trying to figure out how AE CC RAM preview and disk cache works. Totally confusing. And totally different system from AE CS5.5

For full-on speed, have three separate SSDs…. one for the OS and programs, one dedicated solely to Ae disk cache and the third to store the project and all of its assets on. Expensive, but it’ll pay for itself quickly enough if you’re working on fast turnaround freelance projects.
Wow.. 3 ssd? Really needed. I thought only needed for disk cache for ae. i thought The ssd only improves launch speed of programs not much more. it s not more needed increase the ram than install a sad for SO and programs?

If your AE is picking up anything outside (photos, footage, etc.) it will load it to memory much faster, your RAM previews will be faster, workflow (like moving camera, layers etc.) and rendering will be faster. And of course, your OS starts in 30 seconds instead 1,5 min or 2 minutes (sometimes even more). I know before on old HDD, after effects needed couple of minutes to start, now I click on premiere, ae, photoshop, illustrator, audition, cinema 4d, da vinci resolve and it all starts in 10 seconds max.

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=256GMXSSD1&similar=284 This one’s a great deal and super popular for those interested, probably the one I’m going to order.

I would double think about the brand of SSD. As far as I could see, looks like kingston and samsung are best, but not sure though.

For cache and OS option is 240gb, or even 120gb. Those are pretty cheap now.

Yes, that’s a perfect setup. My plan is to do this exactly. :)

Hi folks. A lot of you will probably say “doh”, but for you out there who haven’t give enough importance to fast local hard drive – SSD (like myself), well, you should. I have pretty decent mac configuration (dual xeon processors, 64gb of RAM, etc.) but I didn’t have SSD from the beggining. I recently got Kingston HyperX 3K SSD SATA 3 – 480GB, installed OS and applications on it, AE CC, put disk cache on it and when I work I move my working project on SSD and my assets. What a difference. I mean, everything is useless for after effects if you don’t have an SSD. As I said before, it’s a no brainer for a lot of you guys, but for you who didn’t give as much importance, I strongly recommend it.

:)

I have this problem too since I updated the stupid yosemit. When I pick a color it crashes. It’s not about using CC I need to make templates with AE CS 5 in order to get more sales :(

You can work in CC and downgrade it to CS5 with this script.

Efect_studio, you can use vpn software to buy Adobe cc. The Good one is TunnelBear.

Thanks. I’m not sure this is ok to do, but it worked for me.
