In my honest opinion, the price increase of 20% would be ideal. It wouldn’t be much of a shock for regular buyers (like Ken), and I’m quite positive that new customers would still think that the prices are quite good for given quality. The benefit of price increase is mutual, for customers and for authors. Why? Felt already mentioned and I’ve also noticed that some of high quality class authors here at videohive gave up on creating great templates, just because of ridiculous price tags. I think there is no further need to elaborate this. So, let’s see how would new prices look with 20%
Motion graphics elements – $3 – $4 New price ~ $4 – $5
Simple logo stings – $6 – $8 New price ~ $7 – $10
More advanced logo stings / Simple title projects / Movie Trailer projects – $10, $12, $15 New price ~ $12, $14, $18
Typography / Movie titles / Video Display / 3D projects etc. – $18, $20, $25 New price ~ $22, $25, $30
Various graphic bundles, News Packs, HUD Packs, 3D projects etc. – $30 – $35 New price ~ $36 – $42
Out of the Box projects, heavy graphics packs etc… – $40, $45, $50 New price ~ $48, $54, $60
These are mostly AE projects above, but same applies for stock footage, motion graphics section, Cinema, Apple motion etc.

true, I was just using over-$25 as a rough barometer of quality… it would be good to go through and raise rates of all the ones that have sold well and are of high quality, regardless of price![]()
I am sure the reviewers wouldn’t need less than 6 months to do that, even without them doing their regular rewieving job. On the other hand, you have a lot of buyers who choose price over quality, so you might end up with projects similar in functionality with huge price differences. That is simply not fair to authors, neither is good for envato business imho.

EFEKT_Studio saidlinear is the only way to do it…. envato wouldn’t waist weeks looking at every file deciding if it should be raised or not, they have enough on their plate
@Ken – I think you’re wrong. I’ve seen $25+ projects that suck, and I’ve seen projects with $10 or less that are amazing. It’s funny to raise the prices based on price tag $25+. You have so many awesome logo stings that are priced $8, even $6. That’s why I think the price increase should go linear.
exactly.

EFEKT_Studio said3. And I would be the third one :)) cause I think he is the most serious and most strict one here thus he makes this marketplace more serious and more fruitful. I like his pricing type.
I’m pretty sure if there was a videohive authors meetup, placdarms would need 2 bodyguards![]()

I’m really sorry, but I have no other word to describe rather than spam. I get tons of emails via profile, on my comments page, even on facebook I get messages. Not to speak about videohive forum. Can anyone do something with this?! Am I the only one really bothered with this?!

As far as I know RSMB is, by far, the best thing you can get in terms of post motion blur.

Let’s see what mograph designer here has to invest.
Minimum:- Adobe After Effects – $1000 (Count double for Europe)
- Most basic computer for designer – $1000 (Count double for Europe)
Total: $2000 – This is the basic of the basic
Highly recommended:- Adobe Production Premium – $1900 (Double for Europe)
- Cinema 4D (or other 3D software) – $3,695.00
- Some other necessary plugins, software and similar – cca $2000
- Decent machine – $3000 (Payed mine $8500 couple of days ago)
Total: $10.600 – A more advanced mograph designer in terms of software and hardware
And I’m not even mentioning other expenses, like rent, electricity, bills for internet service, storage, domains etc.
What is the average author income here at videohive? I would say between $1000-$2500
