That’s pretty awesome!
I do my sketches in AutoCAD as I come from an architectural background and have been using AutoCAD for a long time now. Not the typical way of sketching designs but I can bang the sketches out as fast as one can sketch them on paper.
I like the design.
Maybe it got rejected for other reasons other than the design.
I did an ICT course in my college that had a section for Web Design, the course was so outdated they failed me on the web design because i decided to hand code my design rather than use FrontPage. Can you believe it, F*ing FrontPage!
Not to mention that my design was good back then, they thought i plagiarized the work.
Refusing to go by the teachers rules got me a fail on paper even though i now specialize in Web Design and got a killer portfolio! In your face Miss Parker!
That is hilarious!!!
Have you ever hired anyone without any education and is self taught?Just because you’re self-taught doesn’t mean you don’t have an education..
True. I’ll rephrase that to an education related to the web design field.
I found when hiring/interviewing, that candidates with formal education offer a solid foundation in design theory and concepts. Most candidates out of school have base knowledge of the tools but lack practical experience in production/real world scenarios. I would say that a combination of both self learning and formal education would be beneficial. Learning on your own can give you the knowledge you need to work in this field as long as you take the time to figure out what is the right way and learn from quality sources. There are many paths to a goal and all have their benefits. Learning is something you will have to do on a continual basis in this field so regardless how you get there you will have to keep your chops-up will constant exploration.

Any author here started with no formal training or education or got their career started in a different field?
I ask because I went to school for something unrelated to web design/web development but always find myself intrigued with it.
Open up Notepad++ and then open one of the files within the template to edit.
Example file index.html
Is the template HTML , Wordpress or something else?
You need to provide some information in order for others to help you out.
I was looking on Google for some good Photoshop tutorials and I ended up on PSD tuts+ and I found that the design and tutorials where from top quality, so I started to browse there other site and bumped on Themeforest
Same for me. Searching google for Photoshop tutorials and found PSD tuts+ and then TF!!!
