A good theme will sell with or without a page builder however it feels increasingly like you can’t hit the upper end of the popular items list without one because having a page builder is a feature that appeals to a large number of buyers who are not web or WordPress savvy or feel that using a page builder is quicker than the old fashioned way of constructing pages.

So far I have not included a page builder in any of my themes however I am constantly looking at what page builders are around to see if any of them will compliment the theme.

If also depends on what type of theme you are creating. If the page builder is only being used to add content (columns and buttons) rather than to create the actual page structure (page sections) then there is no reasons to embed it in the theme. Choose one in plugin form that you can style to match your theme and recommend it to buyers on the item page, in the documentation and in the theme itself using the TGM plugin activation script.

Is anyone else getting the permissions error on a multisite setup when trying to install or activate a plugin using TGM? I’ve seen the issue posted on the TGM Github a few times dating as far back as last March.

If the theme has no widget areas why would it need to be widget ready? How can you style widgets for widget areas that do not exist? If it is a requirement of the review process why would it be listed in the item page sidebar as if it’s an optional feature?

As the saying goes “you can’t fight the ocean”. You can spend hours searching for and sending DMCA notices to try to prevent the issue but they are just going to spring back up faster than you can send the notices out. I used to dedicate time doing this and I quickly came to the conclusion that it was a waste.

If you find an entire site dedicated to pirated themes then absolutely send the DMCA and inform Envato, but tracking down individual links from upload sites is futile. Instead put the energy and focus into producing new work because if your work is good people will pay for it.

This is a T&Cs loop hole that should be addressed. The items on the marketplace should be advertised and sold based on their own merit which keeps things fair and preserves the value of our items sold here. The way I see it this is no different than bundling which isn’t allowed.

I don’t want to be in charge of the price (you can currently ask for a price increase anyway), and I don’t want to abolish the review process. What I do want is to worry about the creative while Envato handles the rest. And if that’s not going to happen, the least Envato can do is change that tagline, which stands as a complete slap in the face right now.

I think most authors agree with you. If this marketplace is really just the selling “platform” we are now being told it is us authors should be able to set prices and should be free to sell whatever we want so long as it works as advertised, is legal and fits the product category.

But we don’t want that. We want the marketplace to be what it was (or at least what we were lead to believe it was) when we signed up.

...He explained some stuff to me, and all have to tell you… why not commission system… well trust me we do not want it!

If what Collis has said to you is so convincing as to why the commission based model is so bad why is it so difficult for him to communicate that here so we can all be convinced and move on with our lives?

From a recent post we’ve learned that envato gives some additional information if you contact them privately, for example we’ve found out that they are planning to give to buyers author information, and to authors, buyers information.
I would rather my information, however limited it might be, is not passed out to thousands of people I have had no contact with what so ever. Envato need to stop complicating the situation and accept their responsibility as the seller.

Actually, it does make sense. The number that is on your items page is not the price, but the price + buyer fee.
Which just goes to further show how convoluted and ridiculous the whole business model is.

The statement page column headings make no sense. The “Price” column does not show the price of the item (as stated on the item page) and “Amount” is ambiguous.
