@ben and @justin …. Thank you , Thank you and Thanks you ….... For bringing them back and and being so nice enough to listen to the community request ....
boomopera saidIt is not an illusion … There is a clear connection between the front page exposure and sales .. I have been experiencing it over an year …. Those category buttons must be back !! ... Justin has already promised it and looking forward to it !!
Maybe the “fact” that it is not little is just your own illusion?
How can you say that there is a clear connection between the front page exposures and sales? There is no evidence for that. (talking “new items” only) And the reason you experience sales every time you upload is cause those items show on top of particular sub category which I think buyers go to more often rather than spend some happy go lucky time on the front page skimming through random stuff..And the Drop down categories vs category buttons dispute? Please give us a break, no one needs it really, cause they are the main categories, not sub categories and really are not an efficient way to find what you need fast. So they hide it..
How can I say …. is simply from the experience, over the last 30 or so projects.
I am a newbie author who does like 4-5 sales a day ( Average of course !! ) ... Every time (or lets say 95% of the time) I publish a project … and while its on the “Homepage” .. my sales rise like 7-10 or even more ….. the moment it gets away, everything falls back to normal.
I have been experiencing this, definitely for the last 30 projects, could be even more.
You are asking for “Evidence” .., but unfortunately I didn’t kept any stats on it. (Now that I am thinking, I should have… but there was no need, because I thought it is a very obvious fact that everybody especially Envato staff knows about). BTW … none of us have any evidence or clue on how the heck the buyer found an item right?? ... It could be front page, category listing, search, sorting, google or even a referral link … Maybe Elite authors have tools for that, but most of us would never know !!
Judging from the discussion we had here, It is obvious that there are other authors, who experience the same pattern.
Just by looking at your question I knew you must be from Audiojungle ! .... You see, this pattern could depend on the marketplace you are on. I don’t know how much front page exposure you had with old system in the Audiojungle, but I’m sure it is much less than Videohive. If that so this new system may not affect you much, but for us who had 2-3 or sometimes even more days (when we were lucky) of front page exposure, it could affect a lot. some fellow authors from Themeforest and Codecanyon also supports this idea.
I know there are other factors too and this is not the “Greatest truth”. We can debate on this … and more we do .. the more we waste time, simply because we had discussed this enough by now …..
If it is such a [language removed] illusion like some authors think, Justin wouldn’t even bother about bringing the feature back. Maybe he is just being flexible and respectful for the community request !!... , but either way, I’m sure bringing those category buttons back will do a great good for most of us.
Finally this doesn’t mean, that getting to the front page is the only way to get exposure or sales. we are simply saying “It was working fine for us ….. so don’t take it away”.
Hi friends, please let us know if you’re planning to bring those category links buttons back over the “new Items’” section, instead of the dropDown menu. I am sure it would help to the exposure of the new items ; which is vital for new items. Thanks very much.
I was also actually wondering … any clue of when they will be back ?
No … approval is not needed to update/change the item description, but make sure you give clear and accurate info, otherwise they will quickly start to complain !!
