Thanks for the advice guys.

I just bought this one: http://graphicriver.net/item/slenic-web-background-20/184121

It’s not exactly the same effect I was searching for but I could use a certain aspect of it and it’s fully color customizable. I’m not the worlds greatest designer so if it’s not working I’ll be sure to send a mail to one of you for a custom effect. :)

Hey creative peoples,

I am looking quite some time now for a glow effect which kinda looks like the glow in the header of the campaign monitor site.

Does anyone know a good tut where this kind of effect can be made, or is there a file on GraphicRiver that looks like it? (It needs to be a white glow on a black background)

I already spotted this file: http://graphicriver.net/item/moving-lights-powerpoint-template/241010 (the glow effect on screenshot 1, but I need it without the visuals)

Or perhaps someone is interested in creating it for me? Will pay of course.

All advice is welcome :)

Lets just hope it will stay that expensive! I agree with enstyled it would ruin the consistency of the web..

Maybe this will be the beginning of the end for the web as we know it, and the beginning of some kind of app-focused internet era. I’ve always thought domain names were a short-term solution.

It’s English for saying someone’s name is not known. Like a person they don’t know the identity of.

You also have a Jane Doe… don’t know who that is though ;)

Have been confused about that also when I started ti learn English :)

I am building a site with OpenCart which needs to be targeted on different countries. I want to to this by using subdomains.

Every subdomain get’s its own OpenCart installation like us.sitename.com. When someone goes directly to sitename.com, I want the user to get 301 redirected to the subdomain from it’s country. I was thinking of using GeoIPCountry from MaxMind for this.

I also will use Google webmaster tools to tell Google which subdomain belongs to which location via their Geographic target section to make sure the site appears good in the local results.

Every subdomain will be available in a few languages. To avoid duplicated content I will only let Google index the main language. However, what about English speaking countries like Canada and the US, do I need to create 2 different English texts here? Not sure how to avoid duplicating content here since I want the site to be indexed in the US and Canada. Not just put a nofollow on Canada :P

Since I’m not very experienced with geotargeting and quit a lot of countries will be using the site I just wanted to ask you guys/girls if I’m heading in the good direction or if Im seriously screwing up SEO here.

Any help or tips would be appreciated!

I really like the design. A few things I would change though;

- Make the search bar more visible (perhaps just with a lighter text color)

- Give the text a padding left of a few pixels (compared to the headings and the top borders)

- Change the ‘read more’, ‘posted in’ and ‘posted on’ texts. They are very small and perhaps a bit too plain.

Furthermore, nice job. Like the logo! I’m curious about your other pages.

Been working with OC for over a month now, and I really love it.

Prestashop I didn’t try unfortunately. Magento.. damn what a slow monster :P

Hi Skyali,

Being 3 times rejected here doesn’t make me an authority on design suggestions, but I always appreciated the feedback on my rejections. So here’s what I would have changed on the homepage;

- The headings and button text is a bit to plain, I would try to search for a nice free font on fontSquirrel and implement it using Cufon, or use a cool font from Google webfonts

- I never liked Arial that much, maybe you can check out http://blogs.sitepoint.com/eight-definitive-font-stacks/ and use one of their font families

- Give the p tags some more padding left, perhaps 3 pixels (On the home texts but also in the footer)

- The footer area’s, some more spacing between them, also the bottom border more close to the footer headings

- Perhaps a more funky link color for the blogroll, meta links and the ‘more’ links

And on a usability perspective, I would:

- Use arrows as an indicator if a menu item has a dropdown

- Use some kind of css indicator when you hover over a link, like text-decoration underline or another text color that stands out more (especially in the footer)

Good luck with you’re theme!

The Photoshop solution works like a charm :)

I have little experience working with Illustrator, but I should give it a go if I want to work with larger shapes.

Thanks for your help! Now I can create the final detail for my product page.

Hey,

Does anyone know how to give this shape, which I made with the Pen tool, a radius on all 5 corners?

The shape in question:

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3171/shapea.jpg

Now I’ve tried refine edge and ‘select’, ‘modify’ .. but I can’t seem to figure out the right config. I always end up with some featherlike, or plain ugly borders. Does anyone know how to make the corners radius with a perfectly rendered border?

Help is much appreciated :)
